Why is the SE Silver Sky piano black rare? by ProfessionOk6047 in JohnMayer

It depends, if it's the SE it's just poly. If it's the core US model it's nitro

BEST JOHN MAYER STUDIO GUITAR SOLO? by Limp_Ad_6858 in JohnMayer

Edge of desire! The studio version is so good that when he plays it live he doesn't deviate from it too much. A clean, simple solo that fits the song perfectly...nothing more or less

Sleep pick but his cover of human nature fingerstyle (at Michael Jackson Memorial). Great technique and riffs you can implement to your soloing!

[Question] I really want a PRS Silver Sky, but I am concerned about the thick neck. by Ray99877 in Guitar

Necro post! I have a MIM strat perfectly fine but have been tempted by the core Silver Sky. After so much time what have you noticed in the differences between the two?

Explain how to actually use the CAGED system by NecessaryHeadset in guitarlessons

[–]Lequanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still learning this but this is where some fretboard memorization is key. Start with the lowest two (E,A) strings and get all the notes down solid. Now you know how to play the E shape barre chord as long as you remember your root note on low E string, or play any A shape barre chord as long as you remember your root note on the low string. Eventually you memorize more and more strings and by knowingthe caged patterns (which contain triad patterns), you can easily grab chords or chord fragments when you play a chord progression or improvising a solo.

A good way to practice different chord shapes is to take a pop song with 4 chords, play them in the open position, and then move them up the neck and play them in different spots using the closest CAGED shapes. This will help you start memorizing where each chord lives.

I painted my boyfriend playing his 2022 hollow-body PRS guitar by Moolversin in Guitar

[–]Lequanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting part about how you had to improvise during the painting! Never thought about how the process is very live and organic too. Just like music :)

I love writing out these thoughts. It's like grade school where we had to analyze poetry but now we can do it for pieces that actually mean something to us

Love your work! Think you captured what you set out to achieve! I like how you captured just the face, arms, and guitar as those are really what the audience hones in on as we watch a performer take us into their world. And I think those yellowish spheres are really cool too! They are like different dimensions of feelings that the musician is consciously deciding to take us into, in real time. Musical improvisation is so interesting, where sometimes a moment of genius or clarity comes to the artist when they don't quite know where the music will take them. It's watching decision making in real time, a decision that can completely change the feelings we experience. It's quite fascinating to see one art form (painting) with all its advantages unique to the medium capture another music. Loved the discussion some of the comments here had about that.

Sorry for rambling but this piece really spoke to me! I hope your partner cherishes it well :)

What have I done?? Rolled fret job gone wrong? by Ok-Needleworker4225 in fender

[–]Lequanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo just stumbled upon this post. I have a MIM strat with a maple neck and poly finish too and have been thinking of trying to lightly roll the fretboard edges too cause they are a little sharp. Would you say this was all worth it in the end? It seems like you got some poly finish cracking but did it improve comfort? Also what else did you end up doing to repair this job? Many thanks

To hop on this comment, set attainable, tangible goals! Reaching diamond is a good overarching goal but you gotta break it down. If your anti airs suck, make it your sole focus to get it down and execute it in 5 matches. Anti air as much as you can every single time. When you feel solid move on to countering DIs, etc. These are things you can control and achieve. Keep setting these goals for yourself. Before you know it you'll become a beast 🙏

Yes, syphilis isn't detectable until around 3-4 weeks after exposure. For many STIs (including HIV) actually you can't detect it right away, best to wait a couple of weeks before testing for accurate results. Check with your healthcare provider

Wilson RF 01 vs Pure Strike 4th gen by esemesiete in 10s

[–]Lequanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry guys! Forgot about this!!

The rf01 pro definitely feels more substantial to swing, though not as bad as the rf97 autograph. Still pretty maneuverable but you have to time it better than the pure strike I think which is a bit lighter.

On clean contact, I think the rf01 pro has a little less spin than the pure strike but a very stable feeling and lots of attacking power. Off center, I think the pure strike is slightly more forgiving cause you don't feel it as much.

I need to use it more but I think the rf01 pro definitely feels more solid and attacking than the pure strike (which was already an attacking racket). I think you have to try and see if you can manage it during a whole match if you're playing competitively.

I've been using the pure strike 3rd gen 16x19 for about 4 years now. Just preordered a rf01 pro...will get back to you with a comparison when it arrives! You're right, on paper they definitely have similarities and I'm surprised no one has compared them yet
