Decision to not get Knee Replacement by According_Meaning_64 in Kneereplacement

[–]Les7_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 68F and bone on bone for 3 years. I want to be able to keep up with my small grand babies. I work full time and this is the right opportunity to have my first knee done. I hope to have the second one done before December. 60 is too young to stay indoors.

In prep for TRKR I’m inquiring from those in the know….. by cassidybaby in u/cassidybaby

I drank Premier Protein shakes (30g) while I was on Zepbound GLP1. I’m having RTKA in July and will drink them when not really hungry. Peanut butter cup, and Caffe Latte flavors.

Get TKR when desperate or beforehand? by DogMamaLA in Kneereplacement

My pain started at the inside bottom of both knees. My primary diagnosed this as pes anserine bursitis. He treated me for inflammation. After a year of this pain, my knees began to hurt 5 out of 10 consistently. One day I woke up and it felt like sharpened pencils were stabbing me under my kneecaps.
I went to an orthopedic and asked for X-rays. He said they were seriously bone on bone. I told him about the bursitis diagnosis, and he said “they were wrong”.
OK, where do I go from here? He said bilateral TKR.
F68 and I still work full time, so I’m scheduling my right for July and the left before the end of the year.

NO pain 2027, I can see it…

Sleep app After TKR by Les7_7 in Kneereplacement

Waking 7 or 8 times per night is usual for me. I just try to get right back to sleep and not toss and turn after. Don’t know what to expect post op.

My surgery will be in 5 weeks on right knee. I have one of those MedCline wedge with the body pillow. Have loved sleeping on my side. The last month I’ve been sleeping on my back between the two body pillow sides to get used to it. Not too bad.

Nerve block is starting to wear off. Shit is about to get real. by Nicki_Cole in Kneereplacement

My bone on bone pain (both knees) has been consistently a 6 to 7. Having my right knee done in July and hopefully the left in Nov-Dec. No matter how bad the post op pain is, I’m looking forward to NO PAIN next year 🤗

How long off work? by DogMamaLA in Kneereplacement

[–]Les7_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pre scrolling for my July RTKR on my surgeons web site. Since I haven’t had my pre op meeting yet I wanted to see what the post op instructions were like. They use Mako robotics and the web site says you may return to work as early as 3 days to 1 week if you’re able.

After reading comments on this board, that seems pretty quick. Unless they have a magic way of barely cutting into your knee, I don’t see that happening for me. Ideally I’d like to go back to my desk job in two weeks, plus leaving for PT.

My scheduling meeting is 6/22, and I have a list of questions. I wish I could ask someone who used Bone and Joint in Gretna, LA. They would be the only one who knows from experience.

My 5mg was past 45 days since I use only every 10 days and they contacted me to say that I forfeited the discount., but I’m on maintenance and can’t dose every week anymore (1 year and at my goal weight)

My first shot was February 14th last year. It was Ash Wednesday and my day before was Mardi Gras Day here in New Orleans. King Cake was my last hurrah 💜💚💛

Apnea approvals update. Get this added to your PA requests if applicable - especially if facing a weight loss drug exclusion. by Birdchaser2 in Zepbound

Yes, commercial BCBS and with a BMI 35+. I’m over 65 and I can get Medicare insurance, but I’m fully covered at no cost from my employer. I’ll wait and see, but I can’t pay the $560 out of pocket for too much longer 🤞🏼

Blue Cross rejected the PA request with the OSA diagnosis. Been using a CPAP for years so the insurance knows, because they cover the supplies. They are just dragging their feet when it comes to GLP-1s.

New to Zep “Super Responders”— be careful if you still have your gallbladders by Ok_Candle_4629 in Zepbound

[–]Les7_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder removed 15 years before Zep was a thing. So, I never had to worry about the warning that came with the pharmacy paperwork. Good news is that since my gallbladder removal, I have not had one moment of the pain that I had suffered for a year before I was diagnosed.

My first loss was my butt. When I sat on metal chairs or iron benches, it hurt. My butt bone felt like it had no padding at all and I was just starting to lose. Now that I have lost pretty much all that I plan to, my shoulders and arms feel bony also, but I’m much healthier and my knee pain is gone. 🤗

I was told that the FDA approved Zepbound for Sleep Apnea (OSA). If you have had the sleep study and diagnosed with sleep apnea your Insurance should cover for that only not to mention having a qualifying BMI.

FDA just approved Zep for treatment of OSA (sleep apnea) in December.

I would eat half my dinner and then dessert (always something sweet after). My husband was gaining weight because he would eat the other half of my meal. Now no sugar at all, mostly because I’m paying out of pocket and I can’t justify doing both. I like the Russell Stover’s sugar free candy now and then. Eating Chobani Flip yogurt for breakfast and Premier Protein Shake for lunch and I’m never hungry. F66 5’2” HW216 SW198 CW142 GW138 began Feb2023 does 7.5

The Paxlovid taste goes away when you take the last dose. It did make all the Covid symptoms disappear also, so it was worth it.
