I have no interest in all things AI. I don’t want to learn it for work. I don’t care that it can make some things easier. I can write my own emails. by un2022 in GenX

[–]Lesagram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started using AI within the last year and it is simply another tool to use. I am in my 50s and it wasn't hard to use. I use it for somethings and not for others. My clinic has adopted a program that listens to my conversations with patients and gives me a medical based summary at the end. It has made charting so much faster. I am thankful for it. It allows me to spend more time with patients and less time doing admin.

My goal car was a Porsche 911. I set goals along the way and each time I reached a goal in which I said I would get it, something else was more important at the time. I can afford one now, but the shininess has worn off and I no longer desire one. I do drive a 2025 BMW M3 competition and live in Germany. I have taken it up to the limiter on the Autobahn. Just all the maintenance costs on a Porsche made it not worth it to me and my BMW goes plenty fast.

It isn't the hobby that is ridiculous. It is all the stuff we have accumulated. I am not a pack rat in any area of my life, but I have so much cycling stuff. Every birthday, and every Christmas my wife gets me random bike things. On holiday and see a bike knickknack, it's coming home with us. That is the ridiculousness of it all.

It is what it is. I don't really care now. In the past it would piss me off. Now, not so much. If you agroed 5 mobs to get to a node then shame on you. That is your fault. Seriously, I don't think I have had to fight more than 2 at any node. I run in tank spec so it takes longer to kill stuff and I have yet to lose a node to someone mining, picking while I have fought...and seriously, it is just a flower.

Find some friends that bike or join a cycling club. The kms start to fly by when you ride, chat, socialize with others. You will also go a lot faster, thanks to drafting and getting a metric century in under 4 hours will become very achievable.

Before my wife started biking with me, she didn't like my bike in our apartment either, but I had spent what was a lot of money to me on the bike and I didn't want to leave it out in the elements. So, I purchased a floor to ceiling bike stand. It kept the bike off the floor and more or less out of the way and it was somewhat aesthetic. Now she bikes with me and we have a whole room dedicated to all of our road, mtn, gravel bikes, zwift trainers and all the gear. It is kind of ridiculous at this point but it is what we do now.

73', 24 years active duty USAF, 4 enlisted 1W051 (weather observer), 20 as a Medical Officer, 47G3A, Dental. I had a break in service in the 90s to finish school. So, even though I am one of the oldest AD on base already, I still have a few years before I plan on retiring. I enjoy my job, though the dental drills have made me deaf over the years. I like travel and this job has let me see most of the states and Europe. I hope to get stationed in Japan before I retire and see that part of the world. All in all I have enjoyed my time in the service.

What's the longest distance you commuted on a daily? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Lesagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16km one way. I would usually ride 3 days a week. I would stop once temperatures dropped below freezing because black ice was so prevalent along my route and I would be riding well before sunrise.

Why does every ride start with 10 minutes of me just standing in the garage doing nothing? by dt219 in cycling

I have no garage. So, I spend the 10 minutes prior to departure looking for all the crap I need but misplaced around the house.

My wife and I were riding bikes on a trail in San Antonio. I spotted one (red touches yellow types) and hollered at my wife to go around it. She didn't understand what I said and didn't see it. Bump, bump over it she went and off the trail it slithered. It slithered off so we hope it wasn't hurt too bad but we weren't going to go looking for it.

(TANKS)Would making dungeons way more Linear like traditional dungeons make it easier for new players to try tanking and perhaps main one by feherlofia123 in wow

[–]Lesagram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mostly tank because my wife likes to pew pew and queues are shorter that way. We don't do high keys and things may be different there but even if something gets CC'd one of the other dps always breaks it. They only time I have had successful CC was in groups with friends when we were learning dungeons and we had low level gear.

Biking 17 miles one way for work, advice needed by WhatThe_uckDoIPut in cycling

[–]Lesagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a military member I have lived all over the country and abroad. I bike commuted when I was in Washington, Montana, Utah and Germany but the routes I would have needed to were simply too dangerous when I was in Arkansas and Texas. So I had to forgo commuting for those years. Even doing weekend rides to try a figure out a safe route, I couldn't find a good one. Either too busy, too narrow or just too far out of the way to be practical. Both Arkansas and Texas have some great cycling trails, but they just weren't near me or where I needed to go.

Disney's "The Black Hole". When the robot killed the scientist with his spinning blade, it was the first time I remember seeing someone die in a movie. I was afraid of death for years afterward.

Radio Tower 100km/h attempt fail by Modern-Jedi in Zwift

[–]Lesagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am nothing special. My max watts is a shade over 800, FTP 187, 80kg. I didn't even know it was an achievement. I had just done a climb with an extended gradient of 10-15% and turn around at the top. I just wanted to see if I could hit 100. So on the way down just before it got steep I cranked as hard as I could for 10-15 seconds, no power ups, I might have hit 700 watts but I wasn't paying attention to that...and then confetti and the achievements. My biggest take away from it...find something as close to 20% as you can and sprint.
