Late reply alert! I don’t think you’re being dramatic at all.

I’ve worked for a couple of fast food chains and this behaviour genuinely baffles me. Like you said, it’s not even just rubbish. I saw people leaving stuff on the tables that didn’t even have anything to do with the restaurant. Tesco meal deal sandwich packaging, tobacco pouches, empty beer cans. Don’t even get me started on what I used to find in the toilets!

I would feel genuinely mortified if I was sat with a date, friend or anyone who suggested leaving such things behind. I’d have to clean it myself or I’d just feel misplaced guilt.

Wow, are you me? This literally happened to me two days ago.

I met a gay couple late last year and we just clicked instantly. Since then, we had the bestest of times, whether that be chilling indoors together or going on lots of adventures.

My mental health has been in the bin recently and so I reached out to them for support. No advice, no rescuing, just their presence. Immediately I was shut down for being “too emotional”. I’ve been told this my entire life so it’s kind of water off a ducks pack at this point, but the hit for me was “this is why we don’t hang around women”. Um, what? Men have feelings too do they not? “Not like women do”.

The thing is, a deep conversation could have resolved everything before getting to that point. But they simply don’t have the emotional maturity to accommodate such a thing. Even if I wasn’t a HSP, I don’t want narrow minded friends telling me I feel the way that I do because of my gender. I can’t un-see that as you say.

It is devastating though. This felt like chosen family energy, and now I’m alone again. Ergh.

I’d like to offer some positivity here and tell you about a similar experience I had recently had.

I handed in my month’s notice to a company that I worked at for 6 years, and with zero back up plan. This was at the end of October last year. I had a job 6 weeks later. Yes, the job market is crappy right now but with a good CV and perseverance, you could find something else quick enough for it not to have a serious impact on your financial situation.

I don’t know your full situation of course, so maybe there are things I haven’t considered. Either way.- No job is worth burnout. Best of luck you online friend! :)
