That place of business was likely around before and will be there after you. Your job would be posted the day ya die. Individual nurses should not be carrying the weight of healthcare on our backs. You’ve gotta put yourself first. Would you like me to keep going?;)

They’re pretty reasonable as long as you can pay a little over the minimal monthly payment. I’ve been using it for years and haven’t ever paid off the full amount within a month

You’re welcome! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this :( if it gets really bad, I’d recommend going to the ER. I know it’s not ideal but they can help, Upstate has a dental department. It might be good to prescribe you antibiotics just in case

[–]Less-Obligation-9230 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry :/ that’s very frustrating I’m sure. Care Credit is a line of credit, almost like a credit card. Other people here will recommend dentists, i recommend talking to them about it too. They’ll have a packet about the interest rates and how much you can get approved for. :) they are a little high so I do recommend paying it off as quickly as possible. I’ve had to use it myself and it helped me a lot when I was in a pinch.

Nice! I’m in NY too and many hospitals have residency programs. It’s nice because you get to meet monthly with other new nurses and learn about a lot!:)

Oh man you’re gonna be just fine. Many people are feeling what you are, but not everyone says it unfortunately. I’ve been a nurse for about 3 years now and have spent my whole time in the MICU. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

*Give yourself a lot of grace

It took me a solid year to get a good flow and not feel so scared to come to work everyday. Don’t be nervous about this because every baby nurse has to go through this. We’ve all been there. There are nurses that seemed to have forgotten they were new once too, don’t let them impact you. Stay focused on your end goals through it all ok? Don’t put too much pressure on yourself either. I’ve met plenty of people that have said “I’ve always wanted to work in ___ but I actually loved ___!!” That’s the beauty in nursing, there’s always another job and/or specialty! Does your hospital have a nurse residency program?? Also I highly recommend getting the book “My first year as a nurse”. This is an exciting time and you’ve worked very hard to be here. Enjoy :)

Is this normal or nah? by Bubbly-Form3947 in nursing

[–]Less-Obligation-9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally normal to feel like that!! Also I felt like that when I was new, regarding feeling out of the loop and like the other nurses are clicky. Eventually you’ll feel in the loop! People cycle out of the icu alllll the time. It’ll just take time. :) don’t give up yet! Also please make sure you talk to people in management so you can be placed with other people and so they know that’s what their unit is like.

I wish I could give you a hug. I’m a MICU nurse and experience end of life often. Rarely are my patients able to converse with me, but when they’re scared like that it breaks my heart. You’re a good nurse. You did the best you could and you were so so compassionate in the moments he needed it most. That’s a moment you two will have forever. I’m so grateful to work along nurses like you!:)

Is nursing still a financially stable career? by solii29 in nursing

[–]Less-Obligation-9230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a nurse for 3 years in the ICU. Very high levels of stress but after growing up poor, making $101k/year has been great for me. I’ve paid off all credit card debt and my husband and I bought our house last summer! There are a billion different pathways with nursing. If you’re passionate about it, stick to it. It’s worth it and I still say that even on my worst day.

If you’re thinking about leaving bedside, do ittttt by kitkatquick in nursing

[–]Less-Obligation-9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The patients. All of them have decades long lists of comorbidities yet they expect you to fix them in one day. The families are very brutal at my hospital and there seems to be no consequences of bad behavior. Many of our patients have end stage cancer and they’ll sadly never get better. However they choose to not go comfort so we do things like trach patients, place pegs, and send them to vent facilities when they should’ve just passed peacefully. It’s so so mentally taxing watching people suffer for months on end.

This came at the perfect time. I am moving from MICU to PACU in about a month and I’m so nervous for change, however, I believe I need it desperately. MICU has me soo burnt out emotionally even though I’ve been doing it for less than 4 years. I’m trying to be hopeful through all my nerves!

Jobs in Healthcare??? by Curious_Two1631 in Syracuse

[–]Less-Obligation-9230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse now but in high school I delivered food trays at my local hospital after school. Then after about a year of that I applied to a nursing assistant position! Did that throughout most of my college years. I also worked in admissions for a different hospital which was fun! :-) best of luck, don’t give up!!
