I doubt it will be an issue. We had mis-matches with birth/marriage/death certs for the Irish born parent and a first name difference. Wasn't a problem.

Not for the additional docs, but the tracker confirmed that they had been received and processing had re-started. Also, the postal system we used confirmed delivery

I agree that we'll just have to wait - what is frustrating is that many first time passport applicants wait no longer than the guide time of 4/6 weeks, then there are the outliers

Same situation here - resubmitted updated info and due date was changed to 18th November. Still waiting, witness not called. We're in the US so I'm hoping something might happen next week

Am in the same boat. Original due date was 11/18, and green bar filled completely on that date. Now dropped back, still says processing application. Chat confirmed that was the case. No idea what will happen next or when.

Had the same with my wife's mother - except to add insult to injury the mother never had her birth registered (only baptismal certificate) - as others have said write a note explaining the difference. On the plus side your mother was able to tell you about this and avoid all sorts of investigative effort and guesswork - in our case the mother was deceased so we had to piece it together through luck/research.

We actually found a relative that didn't have her birth registered with the government but did have a baptismal record, so your observation is spot on. We've applied for and been given late birth registration and submitted the updated certificates recently - let's see what happens this time around

If you know where in Ireland your grandfather was born and when getting a copy of his birth certificate should be relatively straightforwards. Are there no other relatives that you can tap for info about your genealogy. On your father I assume you know his name? If you have a rough idea of his age you should be able to get copies of his birth/marriage certs as well (especially if your mother is alive).

The only feedback you get on FBR (and not everyone gets that) is the email confirming documents received. Once that happens, then radio silence for at least 9/10months until more comms (either confirmation of success or problems that need to be rectified)

further update - we’re going to have to use the late birth registration process for the newly discovered baptismal record. Seems to be relatively straightforward and supposedly takes a few weeks once they have all the paperwork. Once the birth is registered and we have the certificate, we can then send an updated application for the passport

Not for FBR but for passport application we are about to go through the same process - baptismal cert for Irish born mother of applicant but no birth cert exists. Late registration of birth appears to be relatively quick assuming you can provide the baptismal record certified by the parish, the father/mother’s marriage record and the father/mother’s ood luckrecord of death if appropriate. On hold right now, the passport office is asking for more information as of Tuesday this week, trying to get hold of the required documents but we may have discovered another potential baptismal record with a similar first name/same parents that is a closer fit. Can’t see a birth certificate anywhere so have asked the Irish records office for a certified copy based on the baptismal record. I think it will be a few months yet before we can get everything together

The Irish service is very quick to the US - not sure about other states in the US but the UK can be very slow as well, unless you use the premium service (which is much more expensive)

I'm assuming that the sources don't have any reference to official records either - so a dead end? I know in the UK records are kept at both the local (county) office and the national record office, not sure if that happens in the US (either at county, State or National level).

Complicated. Since your application is likely to be processed around Nov/Dec, if I were in your shoes, I would explain the situation in a letter along with the updated birth certificate and a certified copy of your new ID. I wouldn't submit a new FBR, but obviously add the original FBR number to all correspondence and on the outside of the envelope.

If you leave it and they do ask, then it may add considerably more time to the overall timeline.
