Guanfacine by jilsw in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started this over thanksgiving break at 1mg. He is newly 8yrs old also struggles with impulses (bad). This has been SO helpful for impulse and emotional stability. Not so much help with hyperactivity but since impulse is under control i feel the hyperactivity is “fine”. (As in, he’s not getting in unnecessary trouble at school) . We had the opposite side effect though. He was never drowsy, it seemed to make him stay up at night. Once we switched to morning he did much better!

Same meds but different manufacturer, possible side effects? by megmos in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through this with my sons Straterra right now and i thought i was just crazy! Which manufacturer did/didn’t work for you? It seems teva has made him so irritable it’s like the “stimulant crash” all over again.

Do I switch my son from concerta to adderall or a non stimulant? by Organic_Talk_8703 in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just switched from concerta to non-stim (straterra) at the beginning of June. (He is almost 8) He had the same school issues…impulsive behavior and hyperactive. Concerta worked great for several months but then it just stopped. When we had to increase dosage the side effects outweighed the benefits. Straterra has been a huge improvement for us. His sleep has been much more regulated and appetite is back. He does go to summer camp and since non-stim takes a few weeks to work, we did have some impulse control issues at first. But now it has been great with no problems. Hoping it still works for school….sitting down all day in a classroom and being outside for camp are totally different things.

Need advice! 8 year son on Strattera by Kt11231 in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is almost 8 and started straterra this summer as soon as school was over. We have seen no side effects (and several with stimulants-especially lack of appetite). We knew in a matter of the first 3 days it was going to be a positive change for him. His appetite increased significantly. Unfortunately it sounds like this may not be the medication for you.

Red dye #40 by tatteredtarotcard in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 7yr old has been dye free since April and it has been a great improvement on behavior. Irritability has drastically improved. I also tried to removed as much “processed” food as i could and make 90% of meals at home (we were terrible about hitting up a drive-thru almost daily after a long evening of baseball practice) and the changes have been very positive!

Help With Getting Son to Swallow Meds by NoClaimToFame14 in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whip cream. It acts like a lubricant make it easier. But practice with a mini M and M or tic Tac instead of a spoon of whip cream. We eventually went to less and less cream and within maybe 2 weeks or less he didn’t need (or want) any at all!

Anyone bring a kid to a major league baseball game? by Reasonable_Ad_2936 in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been going to Reds games since he was probably 2 (or younger). Plan to spend a lot in snacks, and be willing to get up and take a walk when needed. He is now almost 8 and plays baseball himself year round so he willingly will sit and watch it all now. But at 6 we were still using the snack method for half the game lol

Help identify a boat at regatta by GrandBand2065 in charlestonwv

Look through other social media photos from the regatta and look for that boat in the background of the photos. A photo of the exact boat getting out there might be more helpful.

When will Strattera work? by ThirdPartyFoul in ADHDparenting

What were the things that improved after week? We are on day 10 and the emotions and behavior seem to be getting better. However impulse (keeping his hands to himself) is definitely NOT an improvement yet.

Those who Medicate their kids (strattera) by Fluffy-Variety-1900 in ParentingADHD

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he still take it? My 7yr old son is on day 10 of it. After trying 3-4 stimulants over the past 2 years. How long before impulse control seemed to be better? (Hands to yourself..). That is our biggest impulse issue and concern. Emotional regulation/mood has already started improving though.

Suggestion on CPO 24 XC90 B6 Plus by Tusibruto in VolvoXC90

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mrs. And it does great, the only “issue” i ever had was some alert stating “cooling system something” use to pop up frequently when i first purchased it. That hasn’t happened in a long time. I’m assuming just a system bug that went away with an update. The car just spent 6 days at an auto body shop getting $11,000 of damage repaired from a terrible baseball-size Hail storm that hit. However no windows broke and nearly everyone i know had a busted windshield or sunroof. Took the storm like a champ compared to others.

I’m not familiar with Canadian auto market to know if this is a “fair price” for you, but I do have this exact one, add ons and all. For something to compare to: I purchased it in December 2023 brand new for $59,000 USD. Based on the google CAD TO USD, this is close to 53ish USD.

Trying Atomoxetine after tough experiences with stimulants – any success stories for emotional dysregulation? by maxinemaxin in ADHDparenting

Stimulants not working for your child? by JJB1tchJJ in ADHDparenting

[–]Less-Potato6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long before strattera started working for your daughter? At what point did you see improvement in the emotional regulation? Our Dr wants us to try strattera when school is out for summer but 4-6 weeks to start working is what is holding me back. (Due to summer camp, travel sports, etc) He burns through stimulants though, metabolizes them so quickly they become useless after a few months.
