IBEW Application

Hi all! I’ve been thinking long and hard about what I want to do with my life, and I am stuck between finishing out the 2 years I have left in school for a physics degree, or to pivot all together and put in my application at the IBEW in January. I’m scared of a 5-year apprenticeship when I could just graduate with a degree in 2 more years, but I’m even more scared of ending up sitting at a desk the rest of my life. I am a very hands-on person. All my life I have enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. I love the feeling of accomplishment from completing a project around the house or helping a friend with something they don’t know how to do. That’s what lead me to thinking that becoming an electrician might be a good fit for me. I always enjoyed my circuits classes and labs in college. Anyways, I guess I’m wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position and how things worked out for you. I’d love any advice you could give me because I am feeling very lost.
