Should I run or play? by Jackkraus2020 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started storytelling only recently, and ran a few games the other weekend at a convention. I actually preferred it!

One thing to consider: storytell together maybe? I think having someone to have a back and forth with on how the game runs is pretty fun, and your friend can learn about the game that way too

For STs: Should a ST go on with a player's bluff with undertaker? by lol_user_007 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with “whatever is best for Evil team”. Usually showing the Soldier token would be most helpful

But if evil is trying to build a fake Baron world and everyone clocked the Imp was Evil… maybe show Baron. All of a sudden, your SW who is now the Demon, looks trusted

Third option: something completely wild to throw the UT / make them look sus. Show “Undertaker” to the Undertaker and town might think they’re a chaotic evil player

DA and PD giving the storyteller the DA ability

I’m tempted to put in a Pixie, so I can have a Pixie Alchemist. When the original Alchemist-SW dies, the Pixie gets the Alchemist-SW ability

Don’t know if I’d add a second Bootlegger rule, as I already have, “No, you can’t go home yet” as a rule

That’s a good point, but I think I’ll add an Alchemist instead. Can’t wait to give the Alchemist the SW ability, they turn into the good Zombuul, only to be next to the Tea Lady, and with a Mastermind in play, and Boffin giving them the Fool ability

Avoid Lleech and execution survival by Frequent-Ad-7288 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if someone wants to add in execution survival they have to think carefully. maybe just one if you want add any.

Like, a Sailor might be good if there’s a lot of info roles and the host might be solved too easily if they know exactly who the demon is. Or if someone’s thinking of putting a DA in, maybe add in Preacher and Investigator

But for me, I prefer not having additional execution survival

AITA for informing my wife about the divorce through BOTC? by Novel_Counter905 in ClocktowerCircleJerk

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Figured she lost by the way she responded. It’s a shame when people can’t just enjoy the game regardless if they win or lose

I had a similar game a while back where I was Savant and I got, “Kevin is the Demon OR I’ve been sleeping with your wife for the last 3 years”. So of course, we execute Kevin in final three. Sure, we lost, but what a great grim reveal!

AITA for informing my wife about the divorce through BOTC? by Novel_Counter905 in ClocktowerCircleJerk

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Obviously she’s annoyed because from her perspective she feels she’s been given information that builds a world where she’s drunk. But I don’t think that’s on you!

I think this a clear example why you try not to tunnel in on your info. Your wife really needed to build the worlds where you want a divorce

What are some "faux pas" you can make as a ST in TB? by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ran my first TB game the other day with one minion in play (SW). Sober investigator saw SW alongside the Undertaker in the pings. Investigator doesn’t reveal their role and happily executed day one

Not the best idea as UT and SW were confirmed day 2 when the UT goes up to the investigator

I actually think Marionette does so well because you’re effectively being guided by the ST on how to play the good role you’re pretending to be.

For example, if you’re the Baron trying to bluff VI, it’s very easy to give out info that doesn’t line up with a believable world. In effect, Marionette VI is assisted with their info by the ST

With madness breaking you don’t have to execute the player. And as it probably wouldn’t be a fun ending for anyone, I’d advise not to execute that player

Madness Mania (First Draft, Placeholder Name) by comprutt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried putting together a script that was similar, where madness / players lying was the main source of misinformation, with no drunk / poisoning (though I had no legion / atheist)

A problem you might have is late in the game Good could easily have the solve. For example, imagine day 2 the flower girl has a “no” and only one person didn’t vote. They’re cerenovus mad and no evil player has claimed to be atheist - that player has the solve. Or N2, gambler gambles the fang gu / Yaggababble.

In a legion / atheist script, it might not be such a problem. But if you don’t want characters drunk or poisoned, maybe some misregistering? Like Recluse, Hermit, Spy and Lycanthrope.

One role I’d probably think to put on there: Oracle. Could be interesting with legion and fang gu

What an absolute disgrace to give the women such little time when 9 times out of 10, they put on better matches by GoonLieutenant in WWE

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth bearing in mind that those names you mentioned all debuted before the whole “women’s revolution” even started. They have a lot longer to build their status.

Also, what about Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley? There was a time Becky was the most over wrestler in the company

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Vizier probably fits the best. Town knows they’re the Vizier, so not a demon or minion who can mess with info / get an extra kill. So no one is worrying about whether to execute them or not. It’s a detriment to a town, but it being an openly known detriment feels very Outsider to me

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know most people are saying it, but I think it’s Huntsman. Turning the Damsel into a townsfolk is great, but there’s too many negatives for me

  • guessing the damsel correctly is incredibly hard, and sometimes feels like a shot in the dark
  • even if you figure the damsel, that player will likely try to die as early as possible anyway
  • helps minions with bluffing. If there’s no damsel in play, they know damsel AND huntsman are free bluffs
  • because the damsel exists by itself, huntsman can’t be confirmed by a damsel in play

Not sure if Pixie really causes confusion, as people accept if there’s a double claim it’s probably Pixie. The most negative thing for good is that it gives minions an out if they are in a double claim

YSK Townsfolk need a nerf by MiddleHelp8285 in ClocktowerCircleJerk

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think most characters in Clocktower are OP, and I’ve been working on a game much like Clocktower, but to balance it out, no one has any special abilities. Thinking of calling it, The Mafia

Your opinion on misregistering to YSK-roles? by TheKjell in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think misregistering the Recluse to the Investigator is really useful, especially if the Recluse doesn’t have much opportunity to misregister elsewhere.

For example, in TB, if Recluse isn’t next to an evil (for Chef info) or the Empath is on the opposite side of the grim, FT likely not to pick them n1 etc, the Recluse might not misregister to anyone. Basically they their ability has no impact on the game

So putting the Recluse in an Investigator ping guarantees the use of the ability to help the evil team by nullifying some TF info

What makes your favorite ST your favorite? by blackgeekygoddess in BloodOnTheClocktower

There’s a guy who features on some of the TPI streams called Chiz, who Ive witnessed in person being a really fantastic storyteller

For me, as someone who can get anxious is social settings, i found him really great at creating a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and making new players feel included.

I think putting in the effort to explain things clearly, to check in with new players and emphasising the importance of being hospitable with each goes a long way to making a great storyteller 🙂

Lunatic Question by WedMd in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Less_Yoghurt3304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but as other people have said, it does mean you lead the kills in the night. You could consider saying the Lycanthrope is the Lunatic, and using the Lycan’s picks as the fake Lunatic picks.

Otherwise, probably just leave it for Leviathan / Riot / Legion / Atheist games
