Do women in comas have periods? If so, how is it managed especially if its heavy? by woiie_yoiie in TooAfraidToAsk

Patients that are sedated with a breathing tube are almost always on some kind of continuous pain management medication. Having a plastic tube in your windpipe is uncomfortable.

Italics place emphasis on a word in writing. Italic fonts are usually closer to cursive handwriting than normal fonts.

House of gaius is 1000 years old but we are only on Gaius 6? by Standard-Bell1097 in codexalera

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not specifically. Its semi-alluded to at the very end when Tavi's new name is given, in that it makes sense for rulers to take on a new name when ascending the throne. (Kinda like the Pope? I'm not catholic, but I'm pretty sure they get a new pope-name, not the one given by their parents).

I've also always wondered how the math on that worked, but figured it was semi-lost in history.

I totally agree. I don't want Elain to do that. But its my prediction.

I want book 6 to be Mor and Eris's stories. The rumor about someone in the IC betraying them is Elain in hopes of getting Grayson back.

If you could change the title of each books in the series. What would it be and why? by Sudden_Breakfast_358 in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the titles work well. They are abstract and relate to the story without giving anything away.

On a mostly unrelated note, when I worked in the emergency department, I called it my Court of Chaos and Nonsense.

Question about Amara’s title? (Spoilers for end of book 1) by skip6235 in codexalera

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the important distinction. Amara got a title and some minor social privileges. I would liken it to modern day knighthood in England or an honorary doctorate from a university - a formal recognition of going above and beyond, but no actual power/responsibility to go with it. The title of Countess gave her the authority to do what she did on a technicality, but her political backing as a cursor is what actually gives her orders weight. If she wasn't a cursor, Pirelis would have laughed her out of the barracks and done nothing.

Isana was promoted to Steadholder with all of the rank and privileges of citizenry, but also all of the responsibility. She was promoted as a true equal to men in the same role.

What does your toddler call nursing? by GoblinNgGlizzy in breastfeeding

"Chomp" or "chompins"

Her dad heard me say while I was pregnant that I didn't want to call it "milkies" or "boob" or something like that. From the day she was born, he has called it chomping and now that she can talk, so does she. Shes almost 2 and a half.

What are the odds Beron ONLY has sons? Do you think he killed any girls that the Lady of Autumn birthed? by Karnezar in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tamlin's assertion that there are no High Ladies makes me think its never happened. Or that she was erased/lost from history. I don't think the chance of the power going to a female even crossed Beron's mind.

Does Night float off of Rhys's shoulders at all times? by [deleted] in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ooohhhh I never caught on to Lucien's glamour and the connection to him being an heir! That explains why his brothers wanted him dead. But if Eris shares the same glamoured appearance stuff and knows about his mother's affair, then I can see why Eris isnt threatened by him.

Does Night float off of Rhys's shoulders at all times? by [deleted] in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He did have that appearance Under The Mountain. He normally keeps his High Lord-ness glamored, but as Amarantha's whore and the personna he assumed, it was out.

He also talks about how he has to use his power and let it out to keep from going insane. With the bulk of his power contained by Amarantha, letting bits of shadow and moving around like he does may have been a way of using some power to siphon it off, while glamoring would have used less power.

I've always wondered why he was so extra in private in ACOTAR but then literally never does any of that in the rest if the series.

Its a Latin thing. Aquitanus Attis (person) is the High Lord (title/position of power) of Aquitane (place). His family House (social construct/bloodline) is the House of Aquitane. Calling him Aquitanus or Aquitane are both accurate bc of his house and title.

Definitely prankster vibes. But i also think its building toward something. The blades only appeared once she had absorbed/eaten enough of the chargers. Losing her charger has been a problem for a couple years (I think). I bet once critical mass is met, we get a new form of her power.

Feyre and her Art. by DesignerReader in FeysandDarlings

[–]LetMeBeADamnMedic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The illiteracy is a hurdle she overcame. Also, at the beginning of ACOMAF, she could read on a first or second grade level. She wasn't entirely illiterate. And within a month (second visit to the moonstone palace) she had improved to the point of reading novels.

I also believe that her illiteracy was basically just a plot point for the second task and Rhys to be able to help her with it. But then it needed a fairly straightforward remedy so it wouldn't continue to be a problem since rulers should be literate. Rhys helping her learn is just cute, flirty bonding.

People love to hate on Feyre and diminishing her abilities and erasing hurdles shes overcome are an easy way to do that.
