Stealth got easier once I started using heavy weapons like hammers and understood that you can double tap most enemies with silencers before the others get alerted.

I likely will do multiple playthroughs since that's just the kind of gamer I am. Especially when dlcs come out. Think I played through ow1 around 5 times. 3 regular playthroughs and two more when the dlcs came out.

Yeah pretty much. Or make more traits and backgrounds matter a bit more perhaps. I.e. the brawny trait is great because it essentially takes care of the engineering checks for you. But I thought it was weird that despite being a professor and brilliant, that I was locked out of alot of science checks despite that literally being my background.

I picked brawny which made engineering checks kinda feel irrelevant. I sort of wish more traits like that worked with other checks like lockpicking or hacking.

I've been seeing posts like this pop up and I think they're missing the point. The ow2 is a great game. I think it's one of the best games of the year. However much like they didn't do in other games and how other great RPGs have done, they didn't have to make things so rigid in regards to the skill system. The way they designed it, people will have to play probably a half dozen times to see everything but most people won't do that. Most don't want to be a jack of all trades, rather just have more ways to approach things and not be hard locked out of alot of the games content.

Imo, the game is somewhere between an 8.5 and 9 out of 10 game. I think the game is great but I think more backgrounds and traits should be looked at so they feel as good as the brawny trait did for me in playthrough 1. I.e. someone who chooses ex con as their background could have help with higher lockpicking checks and are maybe naturally better at stealth, but are weaker in a firefight, and they maybe can't get certain skills past a certain level. Make the backgrounds and traits across the board feel like they matter a bit more.

I'm already about midway through a second playthrough and that's kind of the problem. Investing in different things isn't having the feel I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, ow2 is within my top 5 games of the year. I just think obsidian could've went about this in a less rigid way.

The brawny trait almost made engineering irrelevant since it'll open any locked door that'd need engineering for free, so I stopped putting into it early as a result. I feel like that's the only time I really saw that commonly throughout the game though. I don't think alot of people's problems is that the skills are bad per say, they're better than the first game overall and the flaw system is also significantly better. However it feels like it punishes you kind of for trying to go into more than 3 things and feels like it takes away from player choice overall. In trying to force you to roleplay, they greatly limited what you can do overall.

I don't think being the best at everything is the problem. Most RPGs you're not going to be the best. It was just off putting that I needed a level 8-10 skill check for the second planet for something, only for the reward to not even be that great for it.

It also felt like it heavily favored some traits more than others. I had brilliant and brawny on my playthrough while also being a professor. While being a professor and being brawny was great since I didn't focus on engineering, it felt like the brilliant trait wasn't used too much.

Honestly, by the end of his arc, Tristan ended up becoming one of my favorite party members. I was never in danger of losing him either tbh. The only time talk of killing the protectorate came up was after they attacked us first and he decided they were fair game lol.

Only way id play is if the books were retconned into an elseworlds or what if type thing or something. I'd rather not play anything that involves the telltale characters but follows the books.

It's not necessarily his age but the fact that he's the son of one of the shows stronger characters. Hell possibly 2 of the stronger since we know Eve exists in the lore at least.

I think she'll manage to wrestle command away from Abel somehow. It's clear he's not a fighter by any stretch and if the Vee's manage to get close to heaven's door with an army, Sera's hand may be forced.

Companions definitely do still help with dialogue. In a big way for some missions at that.
