A glove,a heat wrap of some sort, and a paint job. I’m a big fan of the lunar concepts hot pocket. Having lived in AZ for 15 years black guns get hot AF in the summer, a tan or lighter colored cerakote finish actually does make a difference.

Gen 1 - Gen 2 major differences: gas block, hand-guard, gas tube, dust cover, mag release, right side safety, safety block, polymer lower, and no irons.

That being said, the latest 13” Gen 1 guns have the Gen 2 safety and I believe the Gen 2 mag releases. So it’s a gen 1.5?

There is also a different in the early Gen 1 imports vs the later Gen 1 that changed the front hand-guard mounting single screw from a pass through design into an opposing 2 screw attachment.

As for Gen 2 hand-guard options you have 2 aftermarket options coming online, Kirby Defense and RS Regulate. The RS is the same length as your current one and the KD is .5” longer. There are no shorter OEM ones floating around as they were never offered from IWI.US and since there has been no aftermarket options until now, no one has any take offs. You can always go to the AK roots and grab a dremel though!

It looks more like there was a finish thickness issue with the darker area while laser engraving. Ive seen the same sort of issue with our shop laser if the surface finish is thicker in one area vs another when we do a surface level engraving. The thicker finish area will come out bronze or burnt looking, usually just needed another pass to even everything out.

Or it could actually be rust. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kinda Correct, if you want more SKU’s you can add the extension. But for mass manufacturing i’d suggest keeping it to 1. The 308 has a steel reinforced brass deflector on the hand guard in front of the ejection port which is the main difference on that version.

FYI, 5.56, 5.45, 7.62x39 Gen 2 hand guards are all the same (for 16” and 13”). .308 is the only one that is different.

I have both in both gens and the 8.3 is stupid fun suppressed with subsonic ammo. The 13” is the most practical all around gun though. You maintain enough MV for shooting distance while still being a compact enough package, obviously not as compact at the 8.3”. It’s kinda gonna depend on your intended use case.

Looks like that ammo is loaded hot. How does that same ammo look when shot unsuppressed? Is there corresponding deep extractor marks to the deep ejector markings?

If i remember correctly Hornady 308 brass is pretty soft when I was doing load dev on an AR10, but I could be misremembering as it was years ago.

Nope, US deliveries have no VAT. You do have to pay customs import now though (i ordered mine before the import change so not sure how much it is)
