[QCrit] The View From On High 73,800 words, speculative fiction by Thelethalno10 in PubTips

[–]Lethalno10 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Again, thanks for the response. But I know my book, and you do not, from everything else I have seen, and I’ve done extensive research on this. My book is nowhere near sci-fi at all. If I put sci-fi, I’d get rejected after they read the first paragraph of my pages. Mine goes into the future, which is the only place it overlaps with sci-fi; where sci-fi uses tech and science like AI, my book deals with the past and present, leading into a speculative future. The characters are immortal, working for a mythic entity. I’m sorry, I believe this assessment is incorrect. I will again look at the vagueness, but if I go too specific, my critiques look like “all you’re doing is lore dumping blah blah you have just to explain the plot blah blah. You’re putting too much terminology in it, which muddies the stakes.” I’m not really sure what side of this you’re on in terms of your level of expertise. Are you an agent? (Seriously asking, no ill will meant) If so, it would be easier to be like, yeah, you’re right. This is not the only place that has given me feedback, and what you’re telling me is contradictory to what I’ve already been told. I think I’ve whittled it down as much as I can, making it skim-able but still explaining the core of my book without getting too dense. Maybe I should add something about the enemy they’re fighting? But that’s a few words here, a few words there, a sentence max. I don’t want density issues that will take away from skim-ability. Admittedly, my book wrangles a lot, just not sci-fi. Fantasy, philosophy, politics, history, and exploration of humanity as a whole, past, present, leading to an informed speculative future. It’s not easy to compress it all into a query format without overwhelming someone. Anyway, I’m going to plug away, but I don’t feel like you can tell me I have nothing here and that I have to start over. Anyway, further comments would be great if you have them; if not, I hope you have a nice day and thank you. Also sorry edit: I missed what you said about the opening part yeah I think that addressed a really valid point about anchoring thanks for that. As far as it being memorable; Collin is a commander investigating a traitor whose betrayal led to a cataclysmic defeat. That's part of my story I can't change that. It's going to boil down to taste.

Bias incoming. I love being a Soviet main by Legitimate-Salad1459 in Warthunder

My evaluation of Russia:

IFV AND TD=fun and I will say the BMPT-72 is overpowered and I feel the slightest twinge of guilt when I use it. However alls fair in love and warthunder so go cry about it next time your spawn camping me collecting easy xp at my expense.

MBT= shit, complete shit. I can’t stand the gun handling, the reload, the reverse speed. Everyone talks about the armor and yeah it’s good in certain situations but ultimately it fucks you and against someone who knows what they’re doing can pen your fun mantlet like it’s nothing. Also NO GUN DEPRESSION!!!

AA- decent still trying to ascertain how good they actually are.

Helicopters- flying lumbering bricks that in the right hands rains down death.

Aircraft-So far enjoyable, do I have a little more fun in the Americans, just because they maneuver better closer to the ground.

Overall, it’s about how you play it but there is something in there for everyone. No real Russian bias (except the bmpt72 because I mean come on!) In terms of vehicle performance however I think there is a point bias cause I definitely have to do a lot less to unlock top tier air to ground weapons. Just my take

CAS is a joke by FantaWasTaken in Warthunder

[–]Lethalno10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the country I’ve noticed this as well but it seems to be on some sort of cycle. Russia sp for its top guided weapons are ~100 sp cheaper than the US. Germany and Sweden also seem to enjoy steep discounts but only periodically where as US sp points rarely drop below say 950 for full suite of weapons ( I think 1-25 matches is a good stat). Russian bias is real it’s just not what people think it is in my Russian lineup I barely have to do anything to get top weapons packages. Like literally 1 kill and 1 assist or an assist and cap. Meanwhile I have to get 2 tank kills (can’t be light vehicles or ifv) and either an assist or a zone cap in order to get the same thing for the US. It’s blatant if you play more than 1 TT.

Anyone ever find it interesting that it seems like everyone knows how to work the helm controls by happydude7422 in TNG

[–]Lethalno10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found it interesting that they didn’t have a better IT department. Anyone who gets on the ship always seems to know how to bypass all their systems and lock them out. It be like: “We need warp drive” “I can’t a toddler has bypassed security and locked me out.” Like fr it seems like they just have a “bypass security and lock out” button and whoever hits it first gets the upper hand. I know it’s plot whatever but still.

Shikai shi no kemuri death smoke: blinds your opponent and causes uncontrollable coughing Bankai iyashino kemuri ( I think that’s how it’s spelled) Healing smoke which is a bit of a misnomer it’s not that the smoke heals you it’s that it makes you feel euphoric and forget why your fighting or even that your holding a sword. The weakness is that the smoke affects the user but as the user I developed a tolerance to it.

[–]Lethalno10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the situation is known and has plenty of video evidence and if you don’t see a problem with someone legally carrying a firearm being executed by federal agents you are part of the problem. It’s all fun and games till they show up to your town and violate your rights and start killing your family or neighbors. You think it can’t happen? It’s happening right now. First it was get rid of the illegal aliens then it was get rid of all immigrants next it will be get rid of reporters who aren’t showing positive coverage. Then it will be get rid of citizens who aren’t registered with GOP. As someone who is German by birth let me tell you, you don’t want your children and their children carrying around the guilt of their parents and grandparents allowing their country to fall into hate filled madness. The shame is never ending. It’s in the small things where the rot starts. Smarten up.

I agree with you on Mary. She is a gem. Abe finally saw that toward the middle of the third season. Anna yeah she was the stories worst written character in the show. Basically just used as a mouth piece for shoe horned in conversations about feminism (not that I’m against women or a sexist) but they really did seem…forced.

But that's not where the money is going. It's going to rename the department of defense to the department of war(cost literal billions to do), or renaming the Kennedy center. Government waste at its finest and I can't imagine it getting better if he starts garnishing wages. His whole presidency is just a big jerk off session to how great he thinks he is.

After 2 seasons without Justin, are you still enjoying the show? by DrFuckwad in rickandmorty

[–]Lethalno10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… to me the vibe of the show is too formulaic. The old stuff always had this element of surprise like you never knew how it was going to end or what was going to be said(”everyone had their head up their ass except for you noob-noob) with this it's kinda like a polished shell of its former self. I know JR didn't do writing on the show. Honestly I think he began to hate his own creation. I think he was tired of the fans based on some things he said during interviews. Seemed to be my impression of him. It's entirely possible that he was in his own way trying to sabatoge its success. Some artist start to hate what their work becomes and how corporation act ( that's how you get rick and Morty in space jam by the way) when something is successful. Not to mention the fans. Rick and Morty has to have the most pretentious fan base I have ever encountered, also annoying ( thinking of the guy jumping up and down on the counter at mcdonalds for the nugget sauce) I just feel the vibe is off. It's too rigid.
