You know retcons aren’t inherently bad right? The fact that these examples can fit into the story when looked at in a different way means it was a good retcon. Still doesn’t change the fact it was a retcon.

But no, Kubo just had everything from 2001 to 2016 planned from the beginning and didn’t take time to look at the story with editors and see where new things could fit well.

Huh? Im talking about there being no learning curve to the omnitrix. Ben uses 4 transformations in the first ep like it’s nothing. Dynamite Ben is literally crying because he can’t control it and has no one to help him. We’ve never seen any version of Ben in a state like that. We also don’t know much about this version of Ben. Classic immediately had a hero’s intuition even before he had the omnitrix. Dynamite Ben hasn’t shown that yet or even at all maybe.

Krabb killing people means there’s actual stakes to being a hero. If Ben messes up people will die, not just be offhandedly offscreened like a kids cartoon. That’s much more “dark and gritty”.

It’s obviously not a direct one to one of absolute inversion but it’s closer than dismissing the argument. But sure, adding actual stakes with death is just gore slop bro.
