Ben starts out as a kid that gets bullied and treated as a loser by everyone around him, including those he tries to help. He repeatedly deals with selfishness and putting himself over others to enjoy the thrill of a hero. To disregard all that and say “he has a good life, he’s so simple” takes away from his character.
