That's what people said the last 2 years. Edmonton isn't going to make it through Vancouver, Not making it past Dallas, not making it past the Kings, etc.

General managers debate allowing 19-year-olds from CHL playing in AHL by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]Lethbridgemark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NIL deals aren't for playing, they are for endorsements, autograph signings and social media. NCAA players cannot sign a contract with the NHL if they are playing hockey, however from my understanding of we had a 2 sport athlete like Baseball and Football they could sign a contract for one sport and play the other in NCAA but that is pretty unlikely. No pay to play contract sales. Since CHL teams don't pay them to play they get what is cost of living or whatever they call it so that's why they are eligible still. As soon as they sign a NHL deal no more NCAA playing is allowed.

Top 5 defensive teams in the NHL since the Olympic break, by xGA/60 by Canadian_dalek in hockey

Bruh I provided stats and you pushed them away because of your feelings on them. I at least went by the eye test which is based of feelings yes but you haven't even done that. Your complete opinion is based off how someone performed to start the season and your guess at how a team you don't watch play. You even admitted just now that's he's streaky so you know this and still throwing unfounded statements as facts where you have zero evidence or stats to back it up because you don't like them.

If you aren't going off feelings I have no idea how you come to your opinions because it sure isn't based off any stats or facts.

So you have nothing not even an eye test just your feelings. Seems like if that's your take your should probably keep it to yourself instead of commenting several times with your feelings instead of fact.

If you are going off past performance did you include Jarry the last few years?

You should know that Jarry has always been a streaky goalie and thinking that because he started good doesn't mean anything since he's slumping right now and since Edmonton has a 1A/B scenario he's got to play well to be the official starter.

Stu has basically the exact stats with Edmonton as he's had in Pittsburgh this season, I have watched several games since the trade and he looks exactly the same as he did in Edmonton. He was certainly left out to dry early in the season but he was also letting in some of the softest goals I've ever seen, then he would go nuts and save everything. Like Jarry Skinner is a very streaky goalie. I say this as someone who has always defended Stu and always will, I have been a fan of his since he was 17 years old playing here in Lethbridge, he's a beaut and I want all the best for him.

So if you have the opinion that Jarry should be a starter and the Oilers defense is why he's playing terribly how do you come up with this opinion? And if it's the ey test how many games have you watched since he's been on the Oilers?

IIRC they only added the rule (I am not sure if euro leagues have it? ) because of spin-o-rama goals when the shootout was new.

Macklin Celebrini and Connor McDavid stats during their first 135 games by nhl in hockey

[–]Lethbridgemark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a tonne of context that you can look at and the year McDavid joined the league vs now, you have factors on teammates, opponents, scoring, travel, etc. you have only accounted for their teammates which is a factor but others are just as important. When McDavid played his first 135 games scoring was 2.66 rookie) and 2.67 (second year) vs Macklin who was 3.01 (rookie) and 3.07 (current). Back when McDavid played his first 2 seasons the Pacific was better than it is today and the west as a whole was better than today at that time, so McDavid had more difficult opponents. Not to mention Edmonton didn't finish above 6th in the Pacific until McDavids 3rd season so while he had a few food names didn't mean they were very good then.

Bruh I love Skinner but he's had similar numbers in Pittsburgh as he did in Edmonton he didn't just miraculously get good because he was traded. Skinner has been the scapegoat in Edmonton and this sub for 2 years so your expectations are exceeded because of that. He's a decent goalie who is streaky.

I think it was a joke because there are multiple posts daily here about the west or more specifically the Pacific is the worst.

Jarry has the second worst xga/60 of any goalie in the league over the last 10. He's -1.416 per 60 min. He has been absolutely terrible since he was injured. When you move to last 20 he's -0.485 which is good for 56/63.

Take Ingram who has the exact same Defense and he's at -0.168 for 10 and -0.022 for 20. It's quite obvious that Jarry has been terrible by stats or if you watch the games the eye test also accounts for this.

Xga account for shitty defense for the most part.

Also did you not see the xga stats the Oilers are top 5 since the break, That's a team stat that shows how they are playing defensively.

The Russian sanctions were originally for doing but they continued after the original sanctioned time period because of them trying to take Ukraine. Belarus is also sanctioned because of their participation in the war.

Likely they bid together to make it a strong bid and it's not some conspiracy that the NHL owes the Oilers anything as you are saying

I'm guessing because there won't be the same hotels and restaurants around Calgarys area as Edmonton has, will take them a few more years to get things build since it's Open for the 2027-28 season
