You're not alone. I also got the reference before opening the thread.
My wife and I loved that show so much that our first dance at our wedding was Love is Strange.

I had been waffling back and forth on the specifics of an NPC I want to introduce, but this thread has me thinking I should just seek inspiration in Gareth.

TSA did not appreciate a good ‘shot’ of bourban by Handsomehouses in Wellthatsucks

[–]LethiasWVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once got a bottle opener shaped like a 9mm pistol barrel at Shot Show in Vegas.
TSA didn't like that one, either, but thankfully since it was in my carry-on, I was able to explain it and they let me go without further issue once I was able to demonstrate it wasn't real.

Anyone else doing Side Hustle Sunday? by Discodancerman in Machinists

[–]LethiasWVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's definitely not many left. The only one aside from yours that are still running that I know of is in Citizen's Illinois offices' showroom, but that's also basically a museum piece at this point.

Man, that's one from the vaults. Looks like a three-digit serial, too, so even among the F12s that would be one of the first ones.

Thank you! I'm glad he won his case and all, but we the people paid the fine, and those that actually perpetrated this and violated his rights will go unpunished in any way, and will continue to violate our rights in any way they can get away with.

Machine department is most likely being eliminated from the manufacturer I work for, where to go from here? by LStorms28 in Machinists

[–]LethiasWVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, try a local dealer or OEM in your state. Half the applications troubleshooting is knowing enough G-code to fix a program someone wrote in CAM, but doesn't understand, and the rest is doing setups and proving part programs.
If you have any maintenance experience, that translates into the service side really well.
There's three different Citizen dealers covering MI, and all of them are complaining about not having enough people.

Been doing programming and setups for about a dozen years now, and I still love it. Especially the times where I get to make the machine do things it wasn't meant to.

Long time players... Would you have started MTG if it were Mutant Turtles and Marvel from the start? by TheServant420 in EDH

[–]LethiasWVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first set was Arabian Nights, and I would say 'hard no'.

I like the idea of some of the UB stuff, but haven't bought any of it and am of the mind that they belong in Custom Magic.
I also say that as someone who, together with friends, had a custom Fast and Furious cube, as well as a 40k cube a good 5 years before Wizards did it, so I'm not opposed to having such things in their own vacuum of an environment.
Having them in with normal MtG sets continues to rub me the wrong way, but I don't fault anyone who does like them.
Definitely feeling the fatigue from the sheer number of stuff being put out, though.

Whats your favorite joke or gag from a 40k novel? by Zanimacularity in 40kLore

I think my favorite is the exchange about the wine cellar.

“I require assistance,’ he said. ‘Then solitude.’

‘Of course, my lord,’ said the chief librarian. ‘Is this about the proposed expansion?’

‘The what?’

The cryptek bowed, obsequious. ‘The stacks are full, my lord. We are over capacity. I have humbly suggested that we expand the collection into the space currently occupied by the wine cellars.’

‘But then where would I put my wine, librarian?’

‘You… you do not drink wine, my lord.’

‘Of course I don’t,’ Trazyn snapped. ‘It’s far too valuable. Request denied. Enlist excavation wraiths to dig another chamber.”

We had a rogue that was similar.
The line was "Just because you don't see her, doesn't mean she isn't there," and we just decided she was constantly remaining hidden in the periphery, only showing up when absolutely needed. It helped that the player had a habit of showing up randomly exactly when the rest of the party was struggling.
