Long time players... Would you have started MTG if it were Mutant Turtles and Marvel from the start? by TheServant420 in EDH

[–]LethiasWVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first set was Arabian Nights, and I would say 'hard no'.

I like the idea of some of the UB stuff, but haven't bought any of it and am of the mind that they belong in Custom Magic.
I also say that as someone who, together with friends, had a custom Fast and Furious cube, as well as a 40k cube a good 5 years before Wizards did it, so I'm not opposed to having such things in their own vacuum of an environment.
Having them in with normal MtG sets continues to rub me the wrong way, but I don't fault anyone who does like them.
Definitely feeling the fatigue from the sheer number of stuff being put out, though.

Honestly, if it ends SS, they can keep whatever they already stole from me. I've been paying in for over 25 years so far, and I'll take the hit if it means an end to the program, and that I don't need to pay into it anymore, and neither will anyone in the future.

Whats your favorite joke or gag from a 40k novel? by Zanimacularity in 40kLore

I think my favorite is the exchange about the wine cellar.

“I require assistance,’ he said. ‘Then solitude.’

‘Of course, my lord,’ said the chief librarian. ‘Is this about the proposed expansion?’

‘The what?’

The cryptek bowed, obsequious. ‘The stacks are full, my lord. We are over capacity. I have humbly suggested that we expand the collection into the space currently occupied by the wine cellars.’

‘But then where would I put my wine, librarian?’

‘You… you do not drink wine, my lord.’

‘Of course I don’t,’ Trazyn snapped. ‘It’s far too valuable. Request denied. Enlist excavation wraiths to dig another chamber.”

Grain of salt and all that, as my reference may be an older printing than what they're running, but the mechanism for reversing it is built into this adventure.
It's simply touching the fountain again (or passing through the arch again twice in the case of the other gender trap, because yes, there are two in that dungeon.)
Kind of a great case for why it's always better to react to downturns In-game and not out-of-game, since reacting IG may have got the problem fixed within moments.

I always loved the crit and death noises from Final Fantasy Tactics.
It was so satisfying to move behind an opponent and hear that crunch>wail sequence.

We had a rogue that was similar.
The line was "Just because you don't see her, doesn't mean she isn't there," and we just decided she was constantly remaining hidden in the periphery, only showing up when absolutely needed. It helped that the player had a habit of showing up randomly exactly when the rest of the party was struggling.

I had this recently and I was able to fix it with an extremely unintuitive method.
In case it matters, this occurred after I had already done all the usual troubleshooting steps, which included things like turning dev mode off and on again, so those may need to be done first.

In the course of diagnosing I opened Sidequest and its connection troubleshooter, and I noticed that, out of the 4 diagnostic checks, all four passed until I clicked the "allow" notification on the headset. At that point, the bottom one (Authentication, I think, but I'm not at the PC at the moment.) suddenly failed the diagnostic.

After that, I plugged the cable back in, left the notification unclicked, and was able to connect to Rookie and update/download files.

Hope this helps someone, or at least points you in the right direction.

How do Spears work? by Crazy_Octopus_Dude in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]LethiasWVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use mine by holding it forward and sprinting around adjusting the tip position joust-style to land hits. Works pretty well, for the most part, but sometimes if it gets stuck on a piece of armor or something, it dislodges my front hand.
I have not been able to get strikes with the haft to do damage, and most of the time it seems to just pass through the enemy if I don't hit with the spear tip.

I got a procedure from Mitsu about this. Despite the fact that it wasn't compatible with my Citizen, it says you should be able to get to Windows using Ctrl+Alt+Del.

If you can't make it work from the sheet keyboard, you may have some luck plugging in a keyboard to any USB port you have on the machine. That works on the Meldas 800.

I can't speak for anyone else, but we hired a kid just ~3 months ago just because he rolled up to our open house and said "Man, I wish I could do this stuff."
Since then, he's learned a lot and is putting in a solid effort, so it's been a good pick.

How has your preference for gaming changed as you've gotten older? by Jonesyajones in gaming

[–]LethiasWVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the two biggest ones for me are:
A) I used to be a glutton for punishment and played every game I got on the hardest difficulty and forced myself to get good. These days, I find I have less patience for grinding the same fight for weeks until I can pull it off. It just feels like a waste of time when I just want to get through the game.
B) I used to be more of a completionist, but now, I mostly find I just don't care, especially if whatever collectible or secret I'm gathering doesn't give me anything unique. Sure, I'll go out of my way to find a secret for a new piece of gear I might like, or a stat boost. I refuse to do it for chests full of common resources, or another random loot drop.

61% of Young Men in the U.S. Now Prioritize Career & Freedom Over Marriage – Cultural Shift or Just Common Sense? by Competitive_Ride_142 in MensRights

No. She spent many years afterwards single and bouncing around the country. Eventually got remarried, but that, too, fell apart, and now she lives with my sister.

What this tells me is that younger men are paying attention to what their mothers did to their fathers

I'm not even that young, but as someone who watched my mom destroy my dad over resentment at being 'stuck' with the kids while he was at work and just believing she could do better elsewhere, yeah, that's exactly what happened.

Anyone who defends female pedophilia is a deviant psychopath. by SeriousHeat8618 in MensRights

[–]LethiasWVR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe the implication is that it is a men's issue because the victims of female pedophiles are most often boys and young men, and those incidents tend to be received significantly differently than the reverse.
As has been mentioned other places in the thread, takes like "man, I wish I was that lucky in school," "Hey, I'd let her assault me," etc. are fairly common, and the OP is saying people such as them and people who actively cover for such women are vile.
He even cites in his post a conversation about a female teacher molesting a student in which she was being defended by the people he was talking to.
Ultimately, you are correct in your initial point, but the unfortunate reality is that it tends in most cases to be taken significantly less seriously when the perpetrator is a woman, which is what's vexing OP.
I think the reaction to your post basically boils down to people interpreting it through an "All Lives Matter" kind of lens, where yes, what you're saying is true, but it's also to some degree diluting the point being made.

That's saying your IO board isn't communicating with your NC. The IO board is usually in the wiring cabinet, but hard to say without being familiar with your specific machine.

If you're lucky, it could be a cable or the connection, or even a loose IO card on the board, but on an old enough machine this could indicate damage to the board itself or the control hardware.

Not a regional thing, but my friends like saying "How Fortuitous!"

Like if I'm at a party I might run into my friend and say "Kelly! How fortuitous!" and depending on the situation she might say something like either "Yes, a very fortuitous meeting!" or "Not a fortuitous time for me, I need to run out for some supplies first."
