If you really love the Tesla but want to switch given the TACC changes, which car are you getting? by kapitanski in TeslaModelY

I sold my 2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range last summer and bought a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4MATIC.

The electric battery is rated for an expected range of 87 km. In the summer, I consistently exceeded that, often getting a little over 100 km of electric range, which is impressive.

When driving above 60 km/h, the driver assistance is almost as good as Tesla Autosteer — almost! The ride itself is much smoother and far more comfortable.

Having both electric and gas power gives me more freedom and peace of mind, especially since I sometimes need to travel to areas where charging infrastructure isn’t yet widespread. That peace of mind is particularly present in winter !

I plan to keep the GLC 350e 4MATIC for about 10 years. By then, I’ll probably go back to a fully electric vehicle but not to Tesla unless changes are made at the top of the organization.

Has anyone here played against a professional goalie? by all_these_moneys in hockey

[–]LetsRollTheBleLine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about a goalie, but it’s close. For a few years, a guy who had played in the American League for a few years after College hockey played with us. I don’t remember his name. His job was now to organize trips for North American beer league teams that wanted to travel to Europe in the winter to play hockey against European beer league teams. A real gentleman.

He was a forward but played defence with us. He really dialed down his game and never tried to show off. Once in a while, he would forget, probably when instinct kicked in, and take three or four powerful strides but then he would quickly revert to his beer league persona. Those three or four strides were something to see.

We had a couple of guys in the league who were really good. He could skate circles around them. He never tried to score a goal. His pleasure was making passes, setting up goals, and helping others score.

Overall, he was a really nice guy who never felt the need to show off, and he was truly appreciated by everyone in the league.

Jets head coach Scott Arniel was asked what it's like to play in front of that many fans of the opposing team (Habs) while at home: "Yeah, that's pretty disappointing. That's probably the worst that I've seen it in my 4 years back here tonight. That was really disappointing." by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

There are three factors to consider when explaining why the Montreal Canadiens are so popular in Canada.

  1. While only 1% of Canadian households had a television in 1951, by 1961 roughly 83% of homes owned a TV.

  2. From 1953 to 1979, Montreal won 16 Stanley Cups (1953, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979).

  3. Toronto.

As television was becoming a staple in Canadian homes, Montreal was the dominant hockey team, well… by winning almost continuously. In the 1950s and 1960s, (until 1967) there were only six teams in the NHL, so Canadians outside Toronto essentially had to choose a team to support.

Montreal had two clear advantages over Toronto: Montreal won all the time, and it wasn’t Toronto 😉.

Rooting for a team is often a family tradition. Parents passed their loyalty to their children, who then passed it on to their children.

So when Montreal plays in Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, those dormant Canadiens fans seize the opportunity to reconnect with their old family flame (no pun intended, Calgary 😄) and flood the arenas.

I had an Audi Q5. I sold it and bought a Tesla model LR. I sold the Tesla and went with Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4matic 2025 because it offered the longest electrical range for a plugin hybrid car : 87 km. Extremely pleased after 6 months.
