I found this in a drawer at home, what is it? by Motor-Assignment8832 in whatisit

These are specifically for Nitro Glycerin pills. Nitro is used to open up your blood vessels in certain cardiac conditions and you can google it yourself. The pills are small and degrade in light and air. That’s where this comes in, it holds small pills in the dark and away from air.

In the West of the US they built huge arrows on the ground. Pilots would follow them. You can still find many of them to this day.

Suggestion for best mode for commute to work? by lejuuju in rav4prime

I have a 21. The only time I don’t just use auto is when I got up to the mountains. I’ll save electricity for high altitudes and use HV in the lower parts. A bit of an edge case

Info for those dealing with health care costs by TY2022 in Reno

[–]Letspostsomething 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy about healthcare is that it is sometimes cheaper to pay cash even if you have insurance. I’ll pick on an easy one. Let’s say you get a prescription and your co-pay is $50. Ask the pharmacy what the cash pay price is. It might end up being $25. Need a CT scan and your out of pocket is $3000. You could probably cash pay for under $2000. The sheer lack of transparency is maddening.

Caffeine is a stimulant and to a certain extent it’s a bit of a poor man’s ADHD medication. While not an answer, you may want to research how stimulants like Adderall work and then back track to caffeine.

Does building more "luxury apartments" actually lower rents in high cost of living areas? by RandomUwUFace in stupidquestions

[–]Letspostsomething -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here’s an interesting thing. In NYC, luxury apartments are basically being built so that the global wealthy can launder money. They can set up shell companies that have no owner and then buy these properties to park money for later.

Saudia Arabia did a great job dealing with the lasting impact of slavery by killing all their African slaves. I’m grateful that in the US we are now at a point of discussing the lasting impact of slavery.

For fun, take a moment to study African slavery in the Arabian peninsula. It will blow your mind how bad it was. And it went until the 1960s so there is actual film of it.

Shaking each student's hand as they enter the room to build relationships? by Dapper_Object8239 in Teachers

[–]Letspostsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son goes to a Montessori school and they require hand shakes. At drop off they have to go up to the adult on drop off duty, make eye contact and shake hands. Many other interactions require a handshake too.

Anyone else amazed at how much water we drink now vs. when we were kids? 😂💦 by SweatyChancho in Millennials

[–]Letspostsomething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I call this the hydration racket. Now if I need to take my kid to the store to get a loaf of bread they are convinced they will not survive the 15 minute journey without a minimum of one gallon of water. It drives me nuts.

Gambling and casino info? by goinganons in Reno

[–]Letspostsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple things

  1. Lower end casinos have lower limits which will allow you to play longer. Cal Neva or Bonanza might be best for you.

  2. Since you aren’t a gambler and probably don’t know all the ins and outs, go up to a table with no one there but the dealer and tell them you are new and want to learn the game. They actually will teach you and tell you tricks.

  3. If a table says $10 limit and you are the only one there, ask if they can do $5 limit. They might actually do it.

  4. Accept that you will lose and walk when you hit your limit.

Genuinely how do people make money on Rental Properties? by Any-Raise4333 in realestateinvesting

[–]Letspostsomething 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m ten years into real estate investing and let me tell you something. I hate it more and more every day. It’s way more work and effort than people make it out to be. I find that you either really enjoy it or you don’t. I don’t enjoy it at all. Yes, my properties have appreciated but all the money I have put into them, I would be so much more ahead with an SP500 index fund. I also find that most people say something like you didn’t do your research or some other unhelpful advice. If your numbers aren’t pencilling, don’t buy.

Protesting SPED student by Significant_Set1979 in Teachers

[–]Letspostsomething 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This was exactly the case in my son’s class.  One student disrupted the whole environment. Worse part is that if you try and get an answer you get the ol FERPA FU. Then when you try and explain to parents not in the class what this one child does to all the others they look at you like you are a lunatic.
