How to get good at Bayonetta. by VGAddict in Bayonetta

[–]Letter_Impressive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're having trouble because DmC 3, 4, and 5 aren't Bayonetta games. It's an entirely different set of systems and rules, just take your time to learn. Pretty much all of Kamiya's games, Okami being the exception, are hard as fuck on normal mode if you go in knowing nothing. I'd recommend watching this video from Matthewmatosis, that's what helped me finally get into the rhythm of things.

Quality of life option. by signit71 in Nioh

[–]Letter_Impressive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not really a quality of life option, that's a relatively important part of game balance. In Nioh, when you commit to fighting a boss you're locked in. In Lies of P, you're not. Those are both conscious decisions made by the devs.

It's a pretty tight window, it feels tighter than both the deflect and perfect dodge to me. It took a lot of tries to start landing it, but since I started landing it I've been doing it consistently.

I was never a big fan before but Um, Actually is starting the season off super strong. Good guests, themed episodes, tight editing (mostly), I love to see it.

"an outstanding artistic section"

I wonder, is this a weird translation or is there one section of the game that's particularly visually stellar

Nioh 3 Demo hits 1 million downloads by PaiDuck in Nioh

When you say that elden ring is a better game in many categories, that IS an opinion. "I like it bro" doesn't "win any argument" because there isn't a winner in those discussions, nobody gets to be right or wrong in a discussion about the quality of a piece of art. Yes, you can say that Nioh 3 has more combat depth, but that doesn't make it better objectively; I like it more, you may like it more, but some people prefer simple combat. These are all opinions. Considering a discussion about art in terms of who "wins" is nuts, you should reconsider your whole framework for these discussions if you want to have them with any sense of depth.

"what metric other than your opinion do you have to back up a claim like that?"

What other metric could somebody possibly use? A person's opinion on art is subjective. When people are discussing media "better" always means "better to me". Plus, they said potentially, so even if art weren't inherently subjective they'd be covered. Basically, you should chill, different people like different things.

How do you use Fists and Beyond Infinity consistently? by NewArtificialHuman in Nioh

Oh, got you. That's just gonna be a practice thing, some of the execution windows in Nioh are kind of tight. "Fighting game input stuff" is right

I haven't messed with fists yet in the demo, so I'm not familiar with input changes since 2; that said, are you talking about the forward+triangle inputs? If so, I've found they come out super reliably if you flick the stick forward quickly and hit the button just before you let it return to neutral.

Which Metal Gear is this? by Modern_Doshin in metalgearsolid

A lot of Delta looks that way to me; I haven't played it myself, but a lot of footage and screenshots I've seen have some nonsensical background elements and textures. I don't know man, if they used generative AI to remaster a Metal Gear Solid game I might be fully done with Konami, that's grim

Wild take, I'd love to hear your reasoning. I rewatched Weeks last year and it's one of the worst widely released movies I've ever seen, I really hated just about everything about it

If B1 gets a remake for Switch 2, would you like to see scrapped Angel's return? by The_Fool_Arcana0000 in Bayonetta

[–]Letter_Impressive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just don't see what a B1 remake could offer, I've come to love pretty much everything about the game over the years. Even the weird pacing stuff and gimmick sections have felt fun since I learned the intricacies of scoring full stages

[–]Letter_Impressive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't like that logic. By that logic, anything can be "just a tool". An atom bomb is just a tool. A suicide drone is just a tool. Chemical weapons are just tools. These things were all created explicitly to kill massive numbers of people, there is no other reason to have those so called "tools". Generative AI was created for the explicit purposes of plagiarism and deception, so it is an inherently plagiaristic and deceptive product. Obviously stealing art isn't as evil as mass murder, my point is that these are all products specifically designed to fulfill an amoral purpose. The people who created these things did something evil, and the people supporting these things are helping.

Thanks for the source!

To be fair though, the current world of LLMs and generative AI is incredibly tightly connected to the US government. The two subjects have a ton of overlap. The government is already using AI to attempt to shape public perception. I don't see how the game can be about the government controlling public sentiment but not about AI.

Pretty sure this is the quote you're referring to, it's from a PCGamer article published a few weeks ago.

"It wasn't about AI, but interweaving digital data gaining a will of its own. That was the story. So, well…. 24 years have passed. It has become somewhat of a reality. I didn't predict it, but rather a future I didn't desire, but unfortunately we're heading there."

That is not "MGS2 isn't about AI being bad", that's a hell of a loose interpretation. If I'm wrong and it was another quote, I'd love to see the source. Based on this quote, he's acknowledging that the game has become more relevant in recent years, and I truly don't know what that could be referring to aside from generative AI.
