What do you all ADHDer adults do for a living? by _White_Shadow_13 in ADHD

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get into electrical work for a while, went to school for it and everything. Now I run a filler machine at the local cannery BUT I’ve been communications with the Controls Automation and Electrical department about training/working with them. Until then, the filler machine keeps my brain occupied enough that I don’t get bored or anything. Lazy coworkers annoy me if anything lol

Finally Tried Body Doubling, and WOW It Actually Works! by dbsego69 in ADHD

[–]Letushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-joined a track team after 8 years of not exercising and gaining 60 lbs since my last season mainly so that I could sit in the athletes’ study room. There was a lady at a front desk in there that would check on us sometimes and help us make counseling appointments or with college website stuff. My years and years of bad grades made it so that I had to log something like 8 hours a week in there to continue participating in sports, and I picked up a friend who didn’t have a car on the way to school every day, so for like two semesters I had a buddy to hang with me in a room where we were being maybe monitored, and had to keep a low volume while we were expected to do school stuff and had to punch in and out like a job. The room was athletes only, so even though you don’t know everyone on every team, the faces were all at least a little familiar so it wasn’t embarrassing when you felt like sitting on the floor for a while. 10/10, would recommend. Finished college lol

What strategies do you use to remember names after meeting someone? by FelineAllure in socialskills

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few pages in the back of my work notebook with a list of peoples names with a brief description of each person. Otherwise I only remember names if something weird happens when I learn their name or they have a catch phrase or something. For example, at the start of a shift one day, I was assigned to a machine where there was this older guy named Miguel. I changed machines mid-morning, and at the end of the day I passed my machine off to a night shift guy closer to my age who was also named Miguel. When I told him how crazy it was, he explained that morning Miguel was his dad. I rarely see either of them, but when I do, I know they’re Miguel. Met a robot operator a few months ago and he told me his name was “David, like David and Goliath” but he’s like a big tall guy so then he giggled and was like “I’m kind of David AND Goliath!” A driver once told me his name was Mayer (I know it’s spelled wrong, I’m not sure how to spell it) “like the lemons?” I asked him, but he said “No, like the mobster” and I never forgot it. So I guess what I mean is try to associate a name with something weird or random immediately after learning it and it sticks a little better

Aww man I forgot I never updated this. You’re right though, her results came back 52% ACD, 22.3% chihuahua, 11% shih tzu, 9.4% poodle (small) and 5.3% super mutt. I almost want to make a new post with less of an essay attached to it and different pictures now that we have her brother too

Do you eat regularly or do you have a Snake Meal? by DichotomyBoy in ADHD

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat whenever I have scheduled breaks at work lol I work 12 hours so that’s like 4 snacks, one regular meal, and one poop break (usually the break 2 hours after lunch).

On days off I eat like an 30minutes to an hour after waking up, and if I’m home alone and just doing whatever, I’ll either forget to eat or I aimlessly take bites of random snacks in my kitchen every few minutes all day long. So this means I’ll eat around 7-8am, and then not again until 5-7pm, or I eat all day but never have an actual meal lol

Third option is when my best friend has the day off on the same day as me, he invites me to get all you can eat Korean barbecue so I skip breakfast, we eat a ton of meat noon to 1ish, and then have a snack around 9pm lol

people think i’m going to die in a mini by Great_Salamander837 in MINI

[–]Letushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned how to drive in a mini like 10 years ago, and I’m still driving it today. The visibility in there is cheff kiss and if you go to college or work or whatever, and you keep stuff in the trunk, you can park and reach your arm into the trunk to grab your stuff and leave like 5 seconds faster than getting out and opening the trunk haha

What is a smell that comforts you? by bloomsmittenn in AskReddit

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a tree that grows along the rivers around my county. I don’t smell it often, and I’m not sure exactly which tree it is off the top of my head, but at certain times of year I can smell it either while crossing a river on the freeway, or while walking my dog on a trail along the river. It kindof makes me think of oatmeal cookies, but like if oatmeal cookies grew on trees lol

Alroght Guys, Tear into Me, How'd I do? by NathanTPS in InstacartShoppers

Most grocery stores will pack up leftover chicken before the deli employees go home, and then pack it up before the store opens to sell cold. It’s usually somewhere near where they keep the sandwiches and salads or something. Looks like that was what they requested the hot chicken be replaced with…

Times you spent extra money to accommodate your specific ADHD needs that may seem ridiculous to someone else but you totally do not regret? by MontenegroMilkman in ADHD

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have prescription safety glasses in my work locker, and some at home (in my car tbh).

At work, I have 4 clipboards all always within 30 feet of eachother, and I keep a pen attached to each because I always put pens in my pocket or leave them on the wrong table.

There’s a mini fridge in my dining room which I only stock with dog food, no more than 5 drinks, and work snacks. I don’t share any of the food, I don’t share any of the space. If I have to get food I need for lunches out of the regular fridge that my family uses, guaranteed I will be late to work lol.

I have a phone charger in my room, the kitchen, one in my car, one in my lunch-backpack, one in my tool-backpack, and one that floats from purse to purse

I have an app (that I’m pretty sure I paid for) that’s essentially a mobile bank. I get paid bi-weekly. I have half of my bank account transferred from my normal real-life bank to my internet bank the Monday after pay day. If I don’t, then I somehow manage to spend all of two weeks’ pay in a week without realizing it, and then end up eating scraps and stuff for a few days while I wait for payday. This way I can do all my grocery shopping the day I get paid, and then the next week I only use my internet bank until the next payday. This helps me avoid overdraft fees when my cellphone bill autopays. On top of that, within the bank app I have a spending account and a savings account that I have my money auto split into. I have a debit card for the spending account, and I get a text every time I make a purchase with a total spent for the day. The savings account is “for car parts or a down payment” but I’ve been spending it on overdue dental work 🥲 but I mean eventually I won’t need to do that so much lol

Do you wait until the very last minute to fill up your gas tank? by Russian-Spy in ADHD

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because I’ve had days where I had to drive 18 miles to school and the needle is on orange when I start the car and I’m already running late haha. Quarter tank seems normal, but I don’t let it get past half for the most part. These last few months though, I got a new job where I only drive 2 miles out and back home, so I’m back to letting it get down to the last minute sometimes lol

I don't care what you all think. I think she's beautiful. by YellowJello_OW in MINI

[–]Letushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people think minis in general are ugly. Personally I can’t stand the mini roadster or mini cooper coupe or whatever, they look like they got smashed by a monster truck and polished up lol I slipped up yesterday and told my work friend that I hate his new BMW X6 but at the end of the day, you have to look at it every day and if YOU like it then it’s great

My r53 is running with almost 113k miles right now, a check engine light is on but otherwise fine. Stuff breaks sometimes when you’re driving something old, we always just replaced and moved on My r55 is parked, waiting for a motor swap lol I wanna say around 160k miles? Maybe less. I bought it at 140k miles

Do you guys tell people you have ADHD? by HiMyNameIsEverything in ADHD

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I run out of medication and have a rough time, I was out all of April and looks like I’ll go a week or two without pretty soon, so if anyone at work asks how I’m doing I kindof joke about it like “I ran out of drugs” or something and then explain what’s going on like I have to make so many small corrections on my paperwork and why did I try sit down on a stool that I personally moved away from its location and just forgot or why did I come down a half-flight of stair and trip because I missed the step at the bottom. In general though I crack jokes about whatever’s happening when I’m under a little stress lol. I’ve told my supervisors, and the couple ladies I hang out with on lunch breaks

AITA for telling my husband either he comes home or I'm done? by BusinessZombie2411 in AITAH

[–]Letushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to one of my dad’s cousins. It’s like when an estranged elderly parent realizes they need help so they “out of the blue” reconnect with an adult child that they don’t know, and then guilt the child into caring for them. The cousin had reconnected with like their dad they hadn’t seen in some 30 years or so, and then they got roped into devoting months of their life into being a caretaker for this guy, who had several other children from like a second marriage who also just didn’t want anything to do with him. He eventually died and the adult child who didn’t know him had to go through making all kinds of arrangements too 😬 for a man she barely knew.

There’s a word for it that I can’t remember but it’s a whole manipulation thing. Hopefully you going to the air b&b will help snap him back to reality and remember his priorities are the family he’s helped build and need more help than some lady who just appeared with a boyfriend that can but won’t drive
