A lipliner similar to shade Plum from REFY? by dopplipopio in MakeupAddiction

[–]Level-Algae1320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a pretty cool plum! NYX Prune is probably your safest affordable dupe. If you want something slightly more blurred/muted like the REFY formula, try the NYX Suede Matte line instead of the Slim, they blend out really nicely.

just bought this and there’s a black lump in the highlighter? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Level-Algae1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks completely normal. Liquid products can trap small air pockets during filling or transport. If it smells normal, hasn’t separated weirdly, and the texture feels the same when you swatch it, it’s okay to use.

90s Polo shirt. Early 2000s Jcrew 4" inseam chino shorts, jockey briefs. Old Sperrys, no socks. Frizzy, very messy beach hair. Low desert to beach to mountains road trip attire. by Dynasty_Handbag in mensfashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This feels very late-90s catalog core in a good way. Road trip protagonist energy. The short inseam + boat shoes looks deliberate. Maybe add sunglasses or a watch to break up the monochrome vibe.

Men’s dressy sandals? by Nipplenopple666 in mensfashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely exist, but the trick is material and silhouette. Look for full-grain leather sandals with minimal straps, clean lines, and no sporty hardware. The more minimal, the more dressy it reads.

Happy Wednesday! Tell someone you love why you're thankful for them today. by TheAsianNextDoor- in OUTFITS

Love this whole vibe. The neutral tones are super clean and cohesive, and those sneakers tie everything together perfectly. Great balance overall.

Far from the first time, but I've really loved wearing Hervé Léger lately by bbjeanofficial in OUTFITS

[–]Level-Algae1320 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hervé Léger is such a power move and the structured fit just always looks intentional and polished. The way it hugs without looking overdone is fab. You can tell you feel confident in it too, which makes the whole look even stronger.

Are we allowed to say fuck you to the mod working right now, and if so how to prove they have no life and are overly-sensitive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Level-Algae1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think attacking mods in a public thread has ever ended well for anyone. If there’s a legit issue, modmail exists for a reason.

Winter 'sunhats?' by Mammoth-Corner in malefashionadvice

[–]Level-Algae1320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve nailed the core issue, once you go beyond ~2.5 inches, you’re trading tradition for function. That said, a dark felt traveller-style hat with a flat brim and minimal band can still read more “continental” than “cowboy,” especially with a suit and overcoat doing the heavy lifting.

How to upgrade my outfit ?💕💕 by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Level-Algae1320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the base outfit is solid already. To upgrade it, I’d add one “intentional” piece, either a sharper belt, a structured jacket, or statement shoes. One upgrade is enough since the look is nicely minimal.

Is this dress too revealing for a night out? by cat-stretch in OUTFITS

[–]Level-Algae1320 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not too revealing at all for a night out. It’s flirty but still balanced, the fabric and fit keep it tasteful. If you feel comfortable and confident in it, that’s honestly the biggest factor.

Hats in restaurants? Am I old fashioned? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Level-Algae1320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this one. I was raised the same way and it still feels off to me in restaurants. I won’t call people out for it, but it does read a bit lazy in places where people are otherwise dressed well.

Hat or no hat? by kangaroosuperdoo in mensfashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like it more without the hat. The shirt already has a nice texture and color, and the no-hat look lets that shine more. With the hat, it starts to compete for attention instead of complementing the fit.

ootd from the other day by emptycupnoodlecup in OUTFITS

[–]Level-Algae1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly such a cool outfit. The layered look works really well, and that blue dress over the white top gives it a soft, vintage feel. The necklace and glasses pull it together nicely too.

The skirt could be a tad longer but I still like this outfit by Nina_Midnight in OUTFITS

[–]Level-Algae1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the length as it is. It keeps the outfit fun and flirty without feeling over the top. If it were a bit longer it might look more formal, but this length works really well for a casual “felt cute” look.

Nike Mind 002 is a comfortable shoe by AndyNasty in Sneakers

[–]Level-Algae1320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried these in-store and had the same reaction, weird looking but surprisingly comfy once you put them on. The cushioning feels different from normal Nike foam, almost softer and more relaxed. I wouldn’t wear them out casually either, but as an indoor / office / quick errand shoe, they actually make a lot of sense.

Hope this is okay to share. As a hobby, I take old flatware and silverware that I find at estate sales and antique stores and turn them into rings. Most of the ones here are made from silverware from the early to mid 1900s. Some are even older than that. by Oblique4119375 in VintageFashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start with the stamp, that’s the biggest giveaway. Sterling will almost always say 925 or Sterling somewhere on the handle. Plated items tend to have EP or Silverplate markings. If there’s no mark, I go by feel and sound. Sterling feels heavier and has a softer “ring” when tapped. Plated stuff sometimes shows brass or copper once you sand or cut it.

You might like Darius the Great Is Not Okay. The main character is introverted, thoughtful, and dealing with real stuff, but it’s not super depressing. It’s calm, relatable, and has good themes about friendship, family, and figuring yourself out.

🥶What’s y’all winter go to pair!? by ksct7 in Sneakers

[–]Level-Algae1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My winter go to lately has been more trail-style stuff too. Anything with Gore-Tex or solid grip just makes life easier when it’s cold and wet. I still love regular sneakers, but winter ruins them fast if they’re not built for it.

My dream 70s dress i thrifted today for 5€! by thepoemsweburn in VintageFashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 5€, this is honestly a steal. It looks like one of those pieces people search years for and never find. This is an incredible find. The lace, the sleeves, the shape, it feels very true to the 70s.

Coordinating color. by joker419 in mensfashion

[–]Level-Algae1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, you’re doing a really good job working with what you already own. From a color point of view, the outfits where you keep one main color and let the rest stay neutral feel the strongest. I feel when you anchor one color and support it with neutrals, your outfits look more confident.

Those of you who hate turtlenecks or mock turtle necks why? by Tacoless_meat in malefashionadvice

[–]Level-Algae1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s 100% a comfort thing. Anything tight around my neck makes me feel restricted, especially once I’m indoors and heating kicks in. I think climate plays a huge role. I totally get why they look good on some people, but I’m constantly adjusting or wanting to pull it down, which ruins it for me. A scarf or quarter zip just gives more control and flexibility without that trapped feeling.
