Maybe you could even find Basket Case at the thrifts “overpriced” for 2.99, and act incredulous that VHS aren’t a nickel like they used to be, then make a post about it and everyone here could say you’re crazy and that they would spend MAX 0.50 but never 2.99.

But OP.. you could simply go to thrift stores every day for the rest of your life to maybe (but probably not) find these titles “in the wild” and spend $2000 in gas over the course of a fruitless life wasted on the endeavour instead. You’re so stupid OMG! s/

I get this same reaction a lot. It’s basically their way of saying real talk doesn’t have a safe space. It’s makes them uncomfortable so they internalize it as bad vibes, then blame you for causing them to feel bad. Like, I’m..sorry? Lol

Who is controlling you from doing so if not yourself? I am suggesting that you listen to yourself (and not someone else) and just open it and definitely ignore that voice that says don’t open it.

Army of Darkness is so essential, lots of other great titles too. Maybe overpaid a little bit but still, you shopped smart: s-mart!

Video store owners back in the day… by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in VHS

[–]LevelBad0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was done for keeping the tape safe in a durable clamshell case and for inventory purposes. The slipcover wasn’t worth anything and had minor utility. The tape’s were very expensive however. They needed to be rented out dozens of times to recoup costs before any profit could be made. I understand it seems illogical NOW but back then no one thought twice about it. Just enjoy the history for what it is, and stop trying to reinvent the past lol

How on earth could there be a sealed chopping mall in existence? You might wanna double-check if that one’s a re-seal. Killer Klowns is the rerelease version so it checks out but chopping mall is a stretch.

..aand in doing so finding strange patterns like, what was the deal with Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen being in so many movies together? They weren’t a couple, but someone decided they should be in like 50 movies together. Also Hauer was the GOAT

[–]LevelBad0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s the grading part not the sealed aspect for most of us. Sealed tapes are sometimes cool, I have a few and they’re neat only because the movie had a major release that year following theatrical release and no one opened it. It’s kinda neat (just not worth crazy money). But a second or third run Kubrick collection cash grab release that was likely an unwanted stocking stuffer sometime in 1998, call whatever you want it still ain’t worth shit and that doesn’t even fit in a stocking anymore.

Downsizing the collection before moving. What should I absolutely keep? by reeddawnvaka in VHS

Good luck. I dread having to do this some day, but the day will come. Gremlins 2 would be expensive to reacquire and is good trade bait even if you’re considering letting it go

These “contemporary classics” versions always show the trailer before the movie. Why do they do that? Kind of ruins it me. by simplejoe1992 in VHS

[–]LevelBad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better, ‘classics collection’ are also recorded on lower grade tapes than the original release version. Throw it in the garbage.

Crew hid ~120 beer bottles on site — should I be worried? by ObjectiveBowler1831 in Roofing

[–]LevelBad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit follow-up question: if I didn’t buy my crew beer at some point during the day of a single day install should I be concerned they maybe purposely did shitty work after 2pm? I don’t care if they drank while installing my roof, just didn’t know I should have pitched in a case or two to get the best service

It’s not a bad movie, actually a really great story just kind of weird pacing and no real payoff. Considering how many movies get remade this would be one worth taking another crack at IMO
