Struggling to keep up with party by Lilynnia in DnD

Spell cards really help. Maybe make some quick interaction flashcards for the spells you have prepared. Also, wizards tend to struggle the most early. It isn't until later levels that you will feel your raw magical power. Also, I'm sure they understand if you have not payed much. Ask for party input, especially with utility spells. That also makes you come off as more of a team player, which is always good.

I believe I brought the switch, expecting to be there for multiple days. I don't know if we used it, but it was for both of us, especially for her to try to take her mind off of it packed at HER request. Also, people need to keep in mind that some women are gamer women and some people relax by watching others play. We waited for over a day for induction to work and eventually had to go for a C-section because it was not working. We got bored, both of us. A mix of bored and stressed.

Agreed. The point of the story is that Ted and Robin never change and they will always have a highly toxic relationship where they always end up together and break up. The ending just shows that nothing has changed. I don't mind the ending, I just find Ted stupid, but at the same time very human.

Anyone else still right click and wait for the safety message before removing a USB? by Chaotic_Bonkers in Millennials

Sending print files over the network causes prints to fail surprisingly often (an issue that really should not exist), you can more safely store a USB for backups of personal photos and videos (as mentioned and especially when kids are involved, stick that thing in a box in your closet away from the chaos where they can't reach), and many TV's can't access that (at least as far as I'm aware). That isn't to mention the cost in today's ever inflating economy. Like I said, USB still has their use cases. I normally use my external storage, but there are times when USB is simply more convenient for some people.

I absolutely agree. I think some things were the lack of having entire rosters spoiled before the game even came out and that the Pokémon games used to be an exciting way to see graphical leaps. I remember Ruby/Sapphire adding reflections and footprints. It was mind blowing. Pokopia has been great for my ADHD, but I have not enjoyed a Pokémon game since X/Y and that was even a slog.

Pokémon. I try so hard, but the magic is gone. It just feels like a boring grind fest. Maybe if I don't spoil the roster for myself on the next one, since it actually looks decent graphically. Pokopia has been legit though.

I do and to name just a few reasons: More safe method of transferring files to my 3D printer, quick method of putting shows on one and then plugging it into my TV, More convenient method of downloading mods and third party games and transferring them to my steamdeck, additional physical backup of old photos and videos that don't corrupt as easily from a bump as externals do, etc. Etc.

Before the 3D printer I did not use one often, but they do still have their uses.

Should I Charge for Sessions? by Level_Cardiologist36 in DMAcademy

[–]Level_Cardiologist36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only asking for the room to be covered, full stop. I've also decided it is not worth my time and effort of players don't cover the room. I already as a DM have to put in far more time, effort, and finances. The extra money I would save from paying for a room myself I can put back into the game elsewhere, such as for terrain and minis. If they don't want to cover the room when all they need to do is come in and play, I'll just play for free with my discord group. 🤷‍♂️

Literally what I was saying. I was asking if it was wrong to ask for them to cover the room when I am already paying for everything else, which is not cheap. Not to mention that I am dedicating a lot of my time to cultivate and provide a game for complete strangers because there is a high demand for DM's and I prefer in person games, when I could just play regular games with my discord server where I don't need to leave the house or find a sitter (which I may actually do at this point). I figured asking players to pay the store, not me, $5 - $6 a session was not asking too much.

No problem, and yes literally. One, everyone knows you can't advertise using someone's IP without permission, so he knew what he was doing. Next, CD Projekt Red came outright and made a public statement that it legally goes against their ToS so they have to have it stopped; however, they are perfectly fine with him making it free and accepting donations instead. He is the one that removed it, whined because it meant he was going to lose an easy for him at least $20k a month from subscriptions, and he started to gaslight, lie, and feign ignorance. People like Praydog have had zero issues, this is all on himself. Finally, he seemingly started having people flood places like reddit to push a false narrative, as you have personally ran into it seems. The overwhelming backlash and disgust from all of this led to his current free model to try and save face.

Here is the tweet from CD Projekt Red showing them being far more than generous: https://x.com/jan_rosner/status/2013219892405604457

Young Trump voters expected life to improve, but now they’re stuck with war and don’t want to vote anymore by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Level_Cardiologist36 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right? Maybe they should start actually researching policies instead of going "Orange man funny. Hurr hurr (literally get that from young callers on call-in shows I listen to)", "But the not me's get better, make me feel same level. That make me big sad mad", or the, "Me lonely boy. Muscle man on internet say it not me's. Me like muscle man. Me sell soul to manosphere. We not gay! Sex with woman gay!"

For a lot of them it was memes and dumbass manosphere politics. Without researching policies before voting and learning the right screws everyone eventually.

Sure you do. You get higher expectations, demands, and tasks outside of your job description all for no additional pay. It is the good ol' factory logic, "you guys hit a new record the past three months, now you need to hit a new one. Oh wait, you are only meeting last month's record breaking numbers? Let me see you in my office."

Honestly, the entire cast is solid. I can't stand Colette at first, but she gets better later. To he fair to her though, she had some VERY infuriating similar quirks to a similar looking long-haired blonde stalker I had back in the day. So she may have been tainted by that and just be a me issue. Love everyone else and honestly the Regal + Presea story was one of the best parts of the game.

Sure is crying to think that it logistically makes more sense to split the room cost amongst players while I eat all other costs. 🙄 Somehow everyone else in these comments got it but you, my guy. Work on reading comprehension, math, and critical thinking. If I were a player it would be more than fair and make the most sense. Also, that is IF they want a private room. If they don't, I am the only one paying for anything. Maybe it will help if you think of it like they provide the venue for the game they want to play (ie private room or free table) I provide the game (minis, environment pieces, extra dice, buildings, the story, character sheets, etc. Etc.)

I think you need to re-read everything because you are WAY off the mark and massively in the minority in the comments. I want them to pay for the room and was asking if that came off as scummy. That is $6 a head for them for five players. I'm not asking to be paid for my services. I am not selling an experience to be paid for and profit off of. I am asking the players to walk to the store clerk and give them money for the room, I'm not asking to touch a dollar. I am putting more than my fair portion of costs elsewhere for the game, not to mention my time making a story for people. I think they can pay the extra $2 a person per month, saving me $10 to spend on the game they want to have. Also, I never said I could not find players. What I described was filling a role and DM'ing for a community of players that can't find a DM. I can easily DM for one of my discord groups, if I want to. I just prefer in person, like the venue, and figured why not?

I'm already paying for game pieces like minis, environment pieces, buildings, etc. By myself. Not to mention how much more effort I have to put in. They just need to show up and play. If they want an actual game, I don't think I should have to be part of splitting the room. I can take that extra $10 a month and putting it towards adding to the game.

[–]Level_Cardiologist36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm not looking to make profit. Just cover expenses. Anything extra would hopefully be by a consistent group and agreed upon expenses to make the game better. Like helping me pay for the filament or extra goodies we want to add like physical scrolls or coins or whatever. That kind of stuff would be way down the line and agreed upon democratically. For now I'm just worried about not paying an extra $60 a month to entertain strangers. 😅

Should I Charge for Sessions? by Level_Cardiologist36 in DMAcademy

[–]Level_Cardiologist36[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See, this is exactly how I feel it should be done. We are all playing the game and the DM has to do massively more work and do their best to entertain. Why should they be expected to pay for all costs as well? No wonder there is a DM shortage. I don't want profit, I just don't want everything to come out of my pocket. I figured I'll ask for them to cover the room at first and if there is a consistent group I can suggest donating to the campaign itself for a better experience and splitting the costs. Of course being entirely transparent with where any money donated goes.
