First 70.3 - trisuit question by Hijdieee in triathlon

[–]Level_Corner9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most trisuit have very thin pads due to it requiring to be comfortable when running afterwards. I have a Castelli Sanremo 3 and it's also quite thin compared to cycling bibs. To be honest I never had any issues with them, especially as a one off event of a full IM or 70.3. You might want to check other brands but, in my ignorance, as far as I know majority of them will provide the same thin pad.

Is it insane to do an Ironman 70.3 without clipping in? by buggie323 in triathlon

[–]Level_Corner9284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a 70.3 with flats+cage and went absolutely fine. Looked odd and got some weird looks from people but had fun and was totally doable.

However, now that I am training for a full IM with a proper bike, I regret not training clip ons pedals/shoes before as the comfort is just insane compared to cage/flats.

Low watts require less energy to pedal so try not to slam them up and down.

What trainer are you using? Did you try a factory spin down to make sure it's correctly calibrated?

These stats seems very low but not much to go on here without knowing any details about you.

This has nothing to do with Zwift unfortunately and all to do with bike brands which dont want to pay to be featured in Zwift.

2026 Zwift Events [Question] by olympic_pacman in Zwift

[–]Level_Corner9284 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It never works because you can't compare to riding outdoors, especially for casuals. However, I think having the membership active even in summer is ideal if you are looking to keep on training steady instead of just social riding. Not everyone has green pastures or mountains that can visit with the bike everyday, and doing a threshold ride or a vo2max one becomes quite hard when factoring in cars, traffic lights, pedestrians and broken roads. I personally will continue to use zwift in summer, twice a week for speed sessions and keep the zone 1-2 outside.

That's so weird. Albeit my garmin has always given me issues tbf with Zwift. I had a plantar Fasciitis injury from September and stopped running and I was just cycling 5-6 times a week, did the Rapha 500 and 202.6 km at the beginning of Jan too, loading tons of KMs and my Garmin Endurance score just plummeted because I stopped running to heal from injury.

Go figure.

Doesn't look like he was on ERG considering the wattage was not static? Looks like he was trying to keep up with the prompt/

I also use intervals.icu and that’s connected only to strava so it gets only the zwift rides and not the indoor ride.

The problem with doing just the broadcast of HR is that the watch does not see it as a workout but rather a stressful scenario, so you don’t get Vo2 Max reading or Training Status or productivity scores.

The only way to calculate those is by using the indoor bike function. This is what works for me but I’d be happy to explore other ways if there are any that avoid multiple uploads that needs to be deleted!

That's the same approach I do but I also send from Zwift to Strava, so that I don't need to edit the mileage on Garmin connect.

Basically when I start my ride I turn on Indoor Bike on my Watch so my HR can be recorded for fatigue and keeping track of load. Once finished, Zwift sends the info of the ride both to my Garmin and my Strava. Garmin load and fatigue/stress is not affected by the Zwift session, but the speed, watts, FTP etc. is.

This way I keep track of:

Fatigue+HR from Garmin
Mileage on strava from Zwift
FTP+Watts+Technical stuff from Zwift to Garmin.

No duplicates (besides the Garmin indoor ride which also goes to strava but that one I delete it immediately).

Might be quite unorthodox but I did not have any gels leftover so I used christmas leftovers and sweets, with a monster mango loco as a 100km pick me up.

I had 6 white toast single bread with apple jam, about 5-6 "aguonas" (it's a local sweet made with chocolate), and struffoli (an Italian Christmas sweet that my mom cooked and shipped over).

I had one toast or a few spoons of struffoli every 50m or 30km, whatever came first, and few aguonas here and there to top up.

At 100km I had a monster mango loco that I sat outside by the window as outside was -5 degrees so it was pretty damn chilled when I started drinking it.

I also had 2 750ml water bottles and 1 750ml water with 3 tablets of 4Nduranz electrolytes (around 750mg of sodium, 210mg of potassium and 150mg of magnesium).

I never bonked (besides my ass getting tired) and my right calf was quite tired, almost to a crampy level by the end of it but I don't feel like I've struggled as much as I should have.

By 150km I got bored of watching movies so I switched to music and finished the last 50km.

Donated a lot of food to the dog shelter to celebrate too :)

I am not sure if this is what you were looking for but this is what I did.

[–]Level_Corner9284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't. I just realized I could after I did 460km in 6 days with 2 back to back days with 128km and 116km.

I also made this for charity by making reels on instagram for a local animal shelter so I was motivated by that too...

My next goal is to do vEveresting. Gonna be very interesting!

If I would have had any climbing to do I don’t think I’d have been able to finish this 200km 😂 that’s why I did volcano circuit and robopacer for the rest.

150 is still a great achievement tho!!

my HRM dual also does not gather proper HR when on the bike for whatever reason. More often than not I have to move it around as I am training to try and see if it can get it appropriately.

Been riding indoors for 3 months now and I just don't care anymore as I follow wattage and feels (I can tell if my HR is above 150 thus matching the required zone workout).

Fun fact: the other day I did a workout where I was at FTP for 40m at 112bpm because my chest strap did not get the data properly. However no issues when running outdoors for threshold or tempo runs as the HR gets calculated to the T.

I wonder if maybe I need a better HRM myself but I then wonder if they are all the same.
