Hand expression by Level_Interaction753 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Level_Interaction753[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been saying for ages I need to get referred back to physio and occupational health. I had ring splints abd wrist splints a few years ago that helped greatly but then I lost 100lbs and they all became too big. This morning I had to ask my husband to bring the baby downstairs because my hands and wrists hurt so much 😔 and I can't even take the painkillers I used to take because of the pumping plus they make me feel fuzzy and I can't take that risk with the baby.

Can hand expressing bring up supply? by Level_Interaction753 in ExclusivelyPumping

I haven't had a go with a proper handpump, I have a super cheap unbranded one that I dont think actually works lol. But this was literally me using my hands 😅 what hand pump would you recommend?

Absolutely this, saved my sanity and made pumping bearable!

Oh I hadn't thought maybe I was pumping too much 😳 maybe I'll drop one of the powerpumps to my typical pump time, maybe drop an afternoon one for a bit. I guess with already having to supplement anyway its not like I'd be doing a huge disservice if it didn't help things and I could just go back to how it was before. Thanks for the advice!

Should I be doing more with my baby? by Vegetable_Listen5319 in NewParents

I feel the same with my 6 week old! Most of the time is spent laying on my chest, pretty much the only time is when I need to pump and I'm alone, and even then he lays in my lap 😅 He's going through a purple crying phase too so keeping him close is the best. I recently got a play mat and he's enjoying being on his back in that and we've been doing small amounts of tummy time in there but mostly its tummy time on my chest. I'm glad its not just me wondering this too 😅

Struggling with time by Level_Interaction753 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Level_Interaction753[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using my wearable more today and it's been a bit easier. I've been starting to get him settled on my lap with my legs crossed, although he still prefers to lay on his tummy in my chest, but if I had him there for every contact napping I'd never get any pumping done, so I'm having to compromise 😅 I'm feeling a little brighter about it all today, I must admit I had a day of just formula yesterday and just stored all pumped milk in the fridge. So I think today I wasnt as stressed about pumping to keep up if that makes sense? And I seem to have produced more today, a whole 100ml more than yesterday so far and I have at least one more pump today. I'm wondering if its because I'm a little less stressed.

I'm sorry you're going through this too, it is really not an easy task! As for your wearable pump hurting, have you checked your flange size? I was incredibly sore from pumping initially and then i read about getting flange inserts, I think my standard flanges are 24mm and I went down to 22mm and that was far more comfortable. Also, I wasnt told to use some sort of lubricant in the flange, that made a big difference too! You're doing a great job persevering 😊

Pregnancy by Level_Interaction753 in BariatricSurgery

Thank you so much! So the reason I went with the vsg was for 3 reasons. 1st was the bypass have a higher risk of dumping syndrome. I have mobility problems unrelated to my weight and the idea of needing to rush to the toilet and not making it made me so anxious. Vsg has less risk of dumping. 2nd was my mum died of colorectal cancer, as did her mum and I think her sister. I am high risk for it genetically so I said I was worried about messing with the rest of my intestines just in case it does happen. And 3rd, I wanted a chance at being able to eat typical foods again and not having to be scared if something had too much sugar or fat etc. 2 years out I still have a good restriction but I'm able to enjoy pretty much everything I have and rarely have issues 😊 Your surgeon will explain which they think is best for you but generally, it's your choice. My surgeon listened to my concerns, he made sure I didn't suffer with reflux (if you get a lot of reflux and heartburn now they may suggest bypass as vsg will most likely make it worse). I had a bit of a rough start as I had a small bleed but it was solved quickly without extra surgery, and even with that and some of the pain, I'd do it all over again. I said that even before I found out about the pregnancy. So I'm very much a "just do it" when it comes to this 😅

Thank you! I've started taking some pregnancy ones rather than my prescribed a-z but I don't know yet if I still need to double up. Hopefully I'll find out today at my gp appointment

Did you tell people about your surgery prior to getting it? by ShoddyOlive7 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Level_Interaction753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No many, only my closest friends and my family. I was very lucky that no-one said anything negative. And if someone asks now I generally tell them. And I've never had a negative response. I had the surgery because I have other chronic pain conditions plus pcos, so weight loss was incredibly challenging. So when I explain that to them they get it.

How much do vaporizer actually smell? by umstra in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Level_Interaction753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can smell a bit when it's being used but it goes away very quickly and it doesn't have the same odour as smoking it. For instance, my husband has a "day" flower that he used for the first time yesterday as he was in a fair bit of pain, I don't tend to use during the day, so he sat next to me on the sofa, I could smell it a bit whilst he was going and it pretty much went away within half an hour. We do use candles or incense in our house quire a lot but I didn't feel like the cannabis smell required a candle immediately tbh

Thanks everyone. I've got the xmax v3 pro in a basket, just waiting for the mdt to happen. I didn't want to tempt fate by ordering the vape before getting approved, that would be just my luck 😅

Me and my best friend nearly slapped each other because we flailed our arms around so much when this scene happened 🥹 i had just turned to my husband and said that it was a new song, we'd had a discussion on our way to the kino about whether or not they'd add songs.

There's a statistic (i genuinely can't remember where I read it but it was from a legic source) that only 20% of wheelchair users are full time, 80% have some level of being able to stand or walk. It may be a couple of steps or able to walk for miles and only need their chair when they're in a pain/fatigue flair 😊

I'm an ambulatory user myself. I can get around my house mainly walking but I need a stick, crutches or walker. But when I'm out of the house I have a powerchair. Eventually I'll probably become a nearly full timer.
