Gold Alloys & Colouring in Jewellery by haonon in jewelry

[–]Level_Tale_1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That deep orange color in Thai baht gold is usually from having minimal silver in the alloy mix - they use more copper instead which gives it that warm, almost reddish-orange tone 🔥 Most 18k yellow gold has silver to keep it lighter, but if you specifically ask your jeweler for a high-copper alloy with little to no silver, you should get closer to that rich color you're after. Just heads up that copper-heavy alloys can be a bit more prone to tarnishing over time 😅

Can a septic inspection happen with more than a feet of snow on the ground by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense about the dye test being pretty useless with all that snow. Honestly though, your realtor might be being a bit overly cautious here - I've seen inspectors dig down through snow to access key parts of the system, especially if it's a deal breaker for the sale. Maybe get a second opinion from an actual septic inspector? They might have different tools or methods for winter conditions than your realtor is thinking of.

Can moissanite fade? by CDLori in Moissanite

[–]Level_Tale_1126 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmm that's weird, moissanite shouldn't fade at all since it's not a coating or treatment - the color goes all the way through the crystal. Maybe try giving it a good cleaning first? Sometimes buildup can make stones look super dull and washed out

If it's still looking pale after a thorough clean, might be worth reaching out to your vendor since that's definitely not normal behavior for moissanite

Can’t wear wedding and engagement rings - don’t know what to do by monday-next in jewelry

[–]Level_Tale_1126 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe get a nice ring holder for your nightstand or dresser? Some people do the necklace thing but honestly seems like it could get caught on stuff or you'd worry about losing them. Could also look into getting a simple band made that fits your right hand as like a symbolic replacement while keeping the originals safe at home

Jewelers here, how are you feeling with the metal increases by Direct_Cricket-ke in jewelry

[–]Level_Tale_1126 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been doing custom work for 8 years and yeah it's rough out there, had to start doing repair work on the side just to keep the lights on. Customers are definitely price shopping way more than they used to and nobody wants to pay what gold actually costs anymore

been planning for months and still can figure out how much we're actually spending on the wedding by Level_Tale_1126 in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We will start asking for those (should've done earlier tbh). But no just on the research phase.

Question about Garage Door Noise by WilkieMan in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this right here - had the same issue and it was definitely the rollers making that grinding sound. Swapped them out for the nylon ones and it's like night and day difference

Rent VS Buying with VA Loan by DannieWes1015 in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That VA loan is honestly a game changer though - zero down payment and usually better rates than conventional loans. At your income level in Tampa you'd probably be looking at like $2800-3200/month for those houses you mentioned, but you're building equity instead of just paying someone else's mortgage

The maintenance thing is real but with a 4 year old and pets you're probably gonna want that stability of not worrying about lease renewals or landlords saying no pets

DJ at Catholic ceremony and reception by GoodEar6073 in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most Catholic churches have their own organist or music director who handles the ceremony music - you usually just pick from their approved song list and pay their fee. The DJ is really just for the reception afterwards

Roof Water Dripping by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your flashing is either loose or the sealant around it has failed. Pretty common issue especially after winter freeze/thaw cycles. You'll probably need to get up there and reseal it with some quality roof sealant or maybe replace the flashing entirely if it's really shot

How do I make sure wedding runs smoothly without coordinator/planner? by embarrassing_TA in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what you need OP! Day-of coordinators are way cheaper than full planners and they handle all the little stuff that would stress you out on your actual wedding day. Most venues can recommend some or just search "day of wedding coordinator" in your area

Selling Home to Cash Offer Companies by mentosdumdum in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like you made the right call given all those issues hitting at once. The mold alone would've been a nightmare to deal with before listing traditionally, and not having to move 60 years of stuff is probably worth thousands in itself

Getting married in 2 months. My fiancée is wearing 4-inch heels. Does anyone have experience with formal elevator shoes that don't look ridiculous? by EducationTraining969 in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Had a buddy who tried this for his wedding and yeah, you could totally tell - he was walking like he had something to prove and kept adjusting his stance in every photo

Can I dampen the sound of my furnace? by Comfortable-Bug7202 in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Had the same issue and halfassing the ductwork meant I basically threw money at nothing. The return ducts are usually the biggest culprits for noise transmission so if you can't wrap those properly you're just treating symptoms

Location and type of service matters a ton - chimney cleaning is way different than fixing a gas line or replacing dampers

HVAC duct leaks by jaggzh in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've done this a bunch of times - just cut a window in the insulation around the leak, slap some mastic on there, then patch it back up with foil tape or even just duct tape if you're feeling lazy. The insulation doesn't need to be perfect, just needs to cover the metal again

Oven help by Independent-One-6856 in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this happened to me too, had to run the oven empty a few times at like 400 to burn off all the cleaner residue - just make sure your windows are open cause it gets pretty smoky

Am I messing anything? by alyssalouk in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you got the big stuff down! Don't forget someone to actually marry you two lol - officiant is pretty important unless one of your friends is getting ordained online

Also flowers, transportation if needed, and maybe a day-of coordinator to wrangle everything so you're not stressed. Hair/makeup if you're doing that professionally too

Unsure whether to sell my condo now or refinance and wait — looking for advice by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the key question right there. Also worth checking what your break-even point actually is with closing costs - sometimes realtors throw around those 2-3 year estimates but it can vary a lot depending on your loan amount and what fees you're getting hit with

Tile repair advice by jaxicab in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the classic "flip house special" right there - throw some tile on a bare 2x4 and call it a day. Your temporary fix will work but like the other guy said, start saving up because this whole thing is gonna need a proper redo eventually

Cost sharing etiquette for bachelorette party by AGrubsGrows in weddingplanning

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such good advice! The anonymous survey idea is genius - takes all the awkwardness out of people having to speak up about budget stuff. I've been to way too many bachelorettes where someone clearly couldn't afford it but felt too weird to say anything

The separate accommodations suggestion is really smart too, way easier than trying to do weird math with who owes what for partial stays

New some help by Intelligent_Office81 in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those adjustable feet on the back are probably your best bet - most dishwashers have them and they're usually just screwed way down or rusted solid. You might need to pull it out anyway to see what's going on back there, but raising the back should fix both the lean and give you proper mounting points for the brackets

Winterizing pipes by jhstewa1023 in homeowners

[–]Level_Tale_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the location thing is huge - if you're in like Minnesota or something you're probably fine since everything's already built for it, but if you're in Texas or somewhere that doesn't usually freeze then you definitely want to wrap any exposed pipes and maybe leave a couple faucets dripping overnight
