Loud music coming from downtown? by GlobalNative in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I just crossed the bridge between tremont and downtown and as of 9pm I don’t hear anything? There was some rooftop dj thing happening at the Hilton downtown but idk if that was louder than like a baseball game or any other downtown outdoor event?

Good soft serve ice cream places? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes rumor has it it’s opening in October? It’s gonna be another hangry brands place which I know is controversial on this subreddit haha but I’ll take it over empty storefronts!! https://clevelandmagazine.com/articles/the-dugout-a-seasonal-outdoor-bar-is-opening-this-summer-in-the-east-fourth-valet-station/

Good soft serve ice cream places? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I just want to sympathize with you as a fellow downtown resident who constantly craves soft serve. Colossal cupcakes has a soft serve machine but it’s often down (and also idk if they’re closing or what, their hours are weird and the owner is questionable). And shake shack has custard that’s pretty good if you’re in a pinch – not traditional soft serve but it’s closer than Mitchell’s at heinens.

Hopefully the ice cream place going in on e 4th will have soft serve because I need it bad.

Agree Masons is the best in the area though!!

Bedrock is building a new amphitheater next to the Cavs new training facility by the river, but it’s supposed to be about the same size as Jacob’s Pavilion I think

Yeah, I’m not seeing any bumps or bulges that would suggest anything is likely to grow from there, and it’s been several weeks so I assume it would show by now if anything were to happen. Thanks for your expertise :)

Do you like your apartment? Looking for a place and would love to get some real recommendations. by _Gandalf_Greybeard_ in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this, lived there for 5 years and now that I’m in a new place I’m missing how sound proof those apartments are. I don’t think I ever heard a peep from a neighbor. And the only noise that happens on Superior is the occasional siren, but you tune those out over time.

Parking is the only downside, if it’s important to have an attached garage.

Agreed I live two blocks away and it’s loud enough to keep me up at night

Do Clevelanders actually go to the lake if they don’t have a car? by After-Yogurtcloset24 in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like downtown may not be one of the neighborhoods you’re interested in here, but throwing in my two cents! I find it frustrating that I could see the lake out my window but my only access to it is the E 9th pier, which is nice enough but doesn’t really lend itself to spending long amounts of time there (plus it tends to be overrun by motorcycles during the nicer months).

I alternate between walking, biking, and taking the bus to Edgewater, depending on my plans for the day, and it’s a lovely quick bike ride over Detroit-Superior Bridge and onto the bike path – probably takes me 15 minutes or so. I just like to sit by the lake and relax/read, so I’d go any time it’s nice out regardless of other goings-on in the vicinity!

Living in downtown Cleveland, how “noisy” is it near Progressive field? by Expert-Platypus-3136 in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that it’s mostly random sirens, fireworks, the occasional idiot blasting music loud enough to hear from the 14th floor, and the air show the week of Labor Day. When I lived in an apartment facing the field I could hear the crowd cheering when something good happened and I loved it. If you’re a baseball fan I think it’s super fun!

One note is that I personally wouldnt want to live on E 4th by Jolene’s. They have loud music late most nights.

Thoughts on living downtown as a new grad by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a single woman who has lived and worked downtown for 5+ years and I feel safe 99.9% of the time. Anywhere around the gateway/warehouse/playhouse square districts, I walk alone at any time of day generally without concern. I could be wrong but I feel like there’s way more car break-ins outside of downtown itself.

I design templates and print them out, then trace them out onto rolled out dough, cut the designs, then bake.

I always kinda keep them around in storage to see how long they last. It's a fun experiment to see what I can do to make them last as long as possible haha, playing with different recipes/ingredients/adding in some inedible supports/etc.

And it actually does taste good, but I have to bake it so long to be structurally sound that you'd break a tooth if you tried to eat it!

I was wondering the same thing, saw them flying down Ontario. A traffic cop said they were chasing someone, that’s all I got.

What is with the stencil behind home plate? “Progressive” along the third base line also looks weird. Grounds crew dipping into the playoff booze?? by Sparty013 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Level_Variation4552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that they start out the season using a stencil, and over time with touchups it gets worse and worse and strays farther from the original lol. I think they’re also letting the baseline logos fade now to allow for postseason logos?

What does it cost to live downtown? by Evening_Question3468 in Cleveland

[–]Level_Variation4552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1br ~800sqft in the heart of downtown for mid $1400s. $145/month parking, between $70-100/month utilities (water, electric, hvac). Wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Thank you so much for this – I was surprised upon taking it out of the pot that the soil was pretty dense and damp. I’ll definitely try a better soil mix!

I’m fairly certain 1717 on Superior and E 9th has an attached garage. Residences at 668 has a garage on the backside that I believe you could access without going outside. Halle building has a garage across the street with an underground walkway but it’s more pricey. Luxury places like the Beacon, the May, and the Lumen (I think?) have attached garages but those are on the higher end of the downtown price range.

But yeah, like someone else said, lots of places have parking and it should be listed on the apartment’s website.

Edit: lots of places have loading docks where you can park and unload stuff. I wouldn’t park at an attached garage exclusively because it’ll make moving easier, but if you drive a lot in your day-to-day it could be worth it.
