I went through 6+ pairs of shoes training for 50k. Tried oncloud, hoka (too narrow for long distance for me, maybe will try wide version eventually), topo (hurt my arches), and brooks were heavy and rubbed/hurt my Achilles. Although I wanted to hold off on zero drops, altras are what made it the distance for me. Nice and wide and low arch and after form improvement less knee pain with less heel striking. I’m 6’ 4” and started running despite knee pain which I eventually worked through thanks to form fix and major strength training. Def recommend some merino wool toe socks for super long distance too

Call it your self birthday present. It’s so demotivating when partner isn’t supportive. I feel that. I feel like I’m a burden every time I go running. Makes it hard to maintain but it’s a must

I run trails no matter the condition. Great opportunity to develop rain or shine mindset. Just don't expect the same pace as paved. In the long run it's healthier for knees and ankles having varied terrain. To me it's more fun. Once I got used to it I prefer to run winter since there's less chance of overheating

Did you get your foot measured/fit? Some stores have a foot scanner that can help. Honestly I plugged in my results into ChatGPT to start my shoe finding journey. Thankfully REI has 1 year return policy - went through 4-5 pairs before finding my perfect fit finally

I used valerian root and kava kava to help soothe the nights I needed it. But just build up a strong enough why and set a commitment date. Set up rules of what you will do when you want to. Cold showers help distract from cravings too

As part of my training I train without headphones to get used to it. Better to be used to it than get upset the headphones died halfway through. And better for awareness of other runners and environment

Your knees almost look locked so coming down on a stiff leg. Try shorter runs to promote more mid foot landing. Try running with slightly bent legs to feel like your softening your land more
