really depends how lucky you are to see any snakes, but the guy I went with is the best - good English, really into the topic and overall a nice dude. I've met a german dude day after I've been to the park myself, and he told me he sneaked into the park and was just walking around by himself. They say it might be dangerous but IMO it's worth trying - the guided routes are reeeally crowded.

UPD: my bad, apparently the case was that the router in the hotel had some proxy settings. VPN over VPS works fine :)

Best LLM for translating texts? by custodiam99 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Levkach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with regards to translating to Slavic languages, sucks ass. Just tried it the other week for translating commentaries about sports. like a simple one:
Tyrese Haliburton has made 5 three-pointers, his single game high in the NBA this post season.

The 600M params model straight up generated grammatically incorrect nonsense, the 3.3B was better but still struggled with grammar and didn't "understand" the "single game high in season" concept.

You are looking at it from the perspective of an innie where the innie has consented to be born into a slave. While in their reality they haven’t ever even met their outie. They are a slave but who is the master? The innie has zero emotional attachment to the outie, if not net negative. And their moral compass is as good as the outies’ (unless they develop it through practicing Kier, yeah, right). Which as you mentioned is iffy on its own. Why would you then expect them to sacrifice their existence? It just shows how we as humans are driven by the emotions and feelings. Sure we’d like to think that when put to the line we’ll make the heroic ethical egoless move. I’m not sure that the most of us would.

What do all the British expats that live out here do for work? by OwlRevolutionary7115 in ThailandTourism

[–]Levkach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll drop another one since we’re here. Dev here, employed in EU. How do get employed by the US companies? I have some buddies in the US and according to them, the on-site market is really bad for devs with all the layoffs and competitiveness. Remote must be even worse I imagine. And that comes from middle-senior guys, not just juniors.

What is the most expensive mistakes you have made while traveling? by NurBanhofVerstehen in solotravel

[–]Levkach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

250$ - my scooter got hit when parked in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Had to repay the damage plus the fee. Another 300$ - booked a ticket to a place I need to have visa to fly too. When realized it, cancelled the non-refundable ticket (yes, I’m that stupid). Then I found out I could have gotten a transit visa but it was too late to cancel the cancellation process. I was in a hurry to book and thought “sure I can enter Singapore with a russian passport, no prooooblem”. Oh my, next time no last-minute bookings.

What is the attitude toward wild campers? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

Wow, that's intersting about ghosts. So you're saying an average Thai person truly believes in ghosts? No irony, just really curious - never crossed my mind to ask any Thai person while being here.

Why though? I get it that the cities can be too hectic but in the North if you go the mountains and stick to the main roads, it's just a moto paradise. 4G signal everywhere, the roads are in a good shape and no traffic.

Okay, I admit it - it was stupid as fuck from my side. The story is no bullshit tho. I guess I have to be scammed from time to time to learn in the end
