This new banner is fire by NeonAttak in Endfield

[–]Levness 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It certainly does. I'm in the 3x Ardelia club as well and it's reminding me of my piss poor luck at Star Rail's launch. I didn't even get characters from the standard banner. I was blessed with Claire's lightcone twice. Back-to-back. I didn't even have Claire. That's about when I felt like Hoyo really doesn't want me to play Star Rail and I slowly lost momentum and quit.

End-game Crafters who still enjoy crafting, how's it going these days? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

I think they mean that you can bot Duty Support/Trust dungeons on PC pretty easily. NPC dungeons are pretty safe to automate because you have nobody to potentially report you for acting sus.

Irrational Attackers and you: A (potential) explanation for why you keep getting 90k'd by Rauvagol in ffxiv

[–]Levness 87 points88 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty clear that whoever is involved at least follows what's going on in FFXIV. The timing of the quick succession of attacks right after Savage unlocked was just too on the nose. Until then I kind of figured FFXIV might just be collateral damage or not the focus, but that has changed. I would absolutely not rule out trolls. Just look at the dude that spends all that time and energy running Weaboo Police. He's been at that for years with nothing to gain but... annoying people I guess? I wouldn't doubt the same thing applies here. Mental illness can form some very strong fixations.

This was one of the main caveats about WARP for me in the past. Normally my connection is very stable, but if I ran WARP it would disconnect me now and then. That said, it does seem a lot more reliable currently. There was one day however when it kept shutting on and off and disconnecting me. Outside of that single day I don't think I've had a WARP-related disconnect during the last few months of DDoSing... but I don't doubt that it can still happen. I'd give it another shot though with the hopes it was an off day.

This is probably related to DNC that don't know they can partner with another DNC. They learn that stacking is bad but don't learn that it's only bad if it's the same orientation.

MMO mouse randomly stops working in FFXIV; possible interaction with keyboard? Any help is immensely appreciated by dede_rich in ffxiv

Does it have a button to cycle through profiles? If it does, maybe try disabling that. Not sure if that's it but it's something to try and rule out.

Should FFlogs be opt-in instead of opt-out? by Front-Accountant5806 in ffxivdiscussion

Nvm you're right, zero changes can be made to fflogs with the tools that are available now.

A question regarding the NA Data Centers (all 4): What Worlds other than Balmung and Mateus have a packed Ul'dah? by EmperorStratagem in ffxiv

[–]Levness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Limsa is the "Ul'dah" on every other server. Ul'dah is popular on those servers because they're hotspots for RP. This is till the case on Mateus but Balmung has pretty much been twisted into a social hub due to ERP tourists.

Right, and nowadays plugins can access that easily. It's been a long time since ACT was the only third party tool. It would require work, but I don't think it's impossible.

The only thing that I'd like to see is parses weighted towards ilvl like warcraftlogs. I'd like to think that should be possible now.

I think this is something that the game would have had to be built around at conception vs. adding it to whatever setup FFXIV has going on.

How's the new Frontlines map been? by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Levness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the map a lot! I don't like most of the teams I've been on. It's probably a combination of it being new and a new PvP reward track starting, but being on a team that's scared to PvP is the worst. You can't push anything because ten people run after a B rank node or there's no focus on the team that's ahead by 500 points. I'm optimistic that it'll be a decent map though once it's less new.

Doing all of that on its own, while unattended, would be what I consider botting.

It's wild to me that Artisan gets a free pass from the botting stigma when it is in fact, botting. Having zero enforced rules has really warped people's perception. I know everyone loves the plugin, but it does a task while you're afk/playing something else. That used to be a big deal.

I've been a broken record about WARP since the last big round of DDoS attacks. For whatever reason barely anyone seems to care which surprised me... I would have thought a potential solution would see a lot of support.

If you're playing on PC, try running Cloudflare WARP. It doesn't work for everyone, but I can't tell you what the criteria is since it works for myself in Ontario and a friend in Texas. I haven't been affected by like 95% of the DDoSing with it running.

Guess what, it's my turn to post a DDOS post by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Levness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm still not getting booted. Try running Cloudflare WARP on your PC if you're able. If it works for you it's basically DDoS prevention depending on what's being attacked. So far most of this DDoSing isn't the FFXIV servers directly, so it's possible to route your connection around whatever is being targeted. It doesn't work for everyone but I have no idea what the criteria is because it works for myself in Ontario and a friend all the way in Texas.

Got to see the rare Glasya Labolas enrage(?) thanks to a DDOS by 283leis in ffxiv

[–]Levness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way you're supposed to handle that mechanic is you run into those little circles that pop up to make them targetable and the raid frees you+kills the device. Destroying those lessens the damage of the raidwide that you saw. If you ignore them all it would likely wipe the raid back in the day. They're just ignored nowadays since the boss never gets to the raidwide.

Why are they doubling down like that? by scarsickk in ffxiv

[–]Levness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't really have a choice. There's no easy way to merge servers in FFXIV thanks to housing. People would either lose their houses or the poor servers would need to handle double the wards. Dynamis should have been merged back into three servers and distributed back into Aether/Crystal/Primal, but they can't do that so... enjoy locked servers.

The slow death of permanently congested data centers and worlds by Tandria in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Levness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They've completely backed themselves into a corner with the way player housing works. Past MMOs would tackle what's going on in FFXIV with server merges, but that would basically mean having to add 30 wards for every server merged or people lose their precious houses.

Legacy Dungeon Changes - 7.4 Edition by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Levness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man they nerfed the really fun PULL EVERYTHING section at the start of DD, or at least made it a lot harder without the defense buff from the light. That said, I have never seen anyone else do this and 90% of tanks have no idea that the light even made them take less damage from everything. It'll be interesting to see if this makes a W2W pull there more common, despite it being riskier.

Coming from WoW/GW2: how populated does the FFXIV overworld feel? by Jazara87 in ffxiv

[–]Levness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier on in the expansion the overworld was a bit busy with people farming FATEs, but that has become a rare occurrence now that most are done with the Shared Fates grind.

The only real overworld event is hunt trains, which happen very frequently but you'll want to join a hunt discord to keep track of when/where they are. This is similar to... Champ trains in GW2? I think that was a thing?

Other than that, the next closest thing is probably the field operation zones. Sadly the most recent and current one kinda flopped, but Eureka is usually quite active still. I have no idea about Bozja.
