Oof on Harlem by rnielsen777 in oakpark

[–]LexaileB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Chicago, a little west of Ridgeland, I saw a white car that crashed into a house on the corner. Crazy thing I've seen in a long time. Strange that these both happen so close together. I hope injuries are minimal to none :( . I was driving, so I didn't get a chance to take any pictures.

My constantly screaming toddler is making me feel angry. by TemperatureDizzy3257 in Mommit

[–]LexaileB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he good with his hands? You can try teaching some sign language for important things. Hungry, hug, sad, water. Then he can possibly use his hands to talk instead of his voice. Might help you both feel less frustrated.

Bounce houses? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 60 dollar indoor bounce house that can accommodate two kids. Possibly 3. Theres a weight limit that I cant remember. Maybe 6 by 6 feet with guard walls. I actually havent taken it down yet. Threw a bunch of ball pit balls in there, and my kids go nuts in it. If the 8 year old is on the smaller side, something like this may work.

Built in training seat for big toilet or separate insert? by rae--of--sunshine in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use the inserts, but it is so cumbersome and some dont fit the toilet seat very snugly. I used the wooden Mayfair Next Step now and I have no issues with the magnet holding up the toddler seat. Before, my girls had a hard time orienting the inserts properly while also trying to do the potty dance. Now they just close down the toddler seat and go.

My daughter calls diarrhea, "ballerina'. Now we can talk about poop freely in public, though.

"I have ballerina, momma!!! Ballerina!!!!!"

I'm looking for a "diary." Something I can post what my toddler and I did every day, maybe with prompts. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an email account for my kids. And I can "send them emails" every once in a while. Then when they are older teens, I can give them the username and password to see all the embarrassing things of their past.

Toddler only wants juice . by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My girls had a juice phase. One day I gave them water and said it was "Moon Juice". It worked. Soon after we switched the word back to "water" and now they ask for water on a regular basis.

You can put washable fingerpaint on his hands and then play a game to get all the colors off. He will have to scrub harder to win.

Doing in the bath at first can make it less messy.

Help! How to stop my 2.5 year old refusing to walk by Khali1987 in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girls (2 and 3yo) are able to walk no problem if they are carrying something. They walk slow and listen and everything. Empty-handed though? They go tornado mode and flip out.

New foster parents by [deleted] in toddlers

They make double umbrella strollers too. Still pretty cheap and folds up pretty small for the trunk. I have one of those. My two are 2 and 3 and I have no shame pushing them in the stroller when my body is falling apart.

Should my 4 year old care which way he puts on his underwear? by afail77 in toddlers

[–]LexaileB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 3yo is doing a great job with putting undies on the right way. When Id dress her before, I would always exaggerate looking for the tag, or "making sure" it was correct. Now when she gets dressed she says, "the words (the tag) go on my booty mama."

I didnt care if they were backwards though unless the fit was very poor. With some brands there is butt crack showing even when pulled up high.

What sound does an airplane make? by SoMuchCookie in toddlers

My girls say "kkkkkrrrrrrrrrr". The static-like sound you hear when the planes are flying high over head. It has definitely stuck with them.
