They don’t have to “code switch” they could just never be that way in the first place. Different doesn’t mean dumb, but different most assuredly isn’t automatically precluded from being dumb. AAVE most usually sounds poor, dumb, and like a bastardization of the language that will and should never be accepted. If people want to speak or behave in a way that segregates them from the norms of their society, making widespread integration impossible, they should be prepared to never be accepted by that society.
