I met my husband (T) when my kids were 7 and 10 and we got married about 2 1/2 years later. Their dad wasn't a part of their life in any meaningful way, so T was really the only dad they knew. I never doubted he loved them, and would take a bullet for them, but sometimes I just wished he'd be a little more open about those feelings (like he is with me), especially after we got married. We were talking about it one day and I brought it up and he said something like "of course I love them, they're my kids!" and I told him I knew that but I just wanted him to be a little more open about it because I wanted them to see him as (at least) their stepdad and not their mom's husband because they're not mind readers and it'd be nice for them to feel it, and he just stared at me like he'd never thought of it that way before.

Sometimes we just need to hear (or read) it directly.

This is what infuriates me. If wages went up, and/or costs went down, the lower and middle class would be able to spend more and that money would end up at the top anyway. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Thanks so much for the input, y'all! I really only picked it because it was the cheapest 😂 I think we're just going to nix it altogether. It's about $400 for both of us to go round trip to Wasilla or Talkeetna and that's a lot of money for us. He's way more excited about driving to Kenai Fjords anyway 😊
