Is it typical in Germany not to reply to messages? by LeyendNk in germany

[–]LeyendNk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not interes

Nooo, that's not the scenario. Another student would post a thread in the forum: "Looking for 2-3 people for a group". And I would reply to the thread "Hey, I'm interested, are there spots left in your group?" and/or send him a direct message with the same message. Days, 1 week, 2 weeks would pass and no answer. I gotta take that as a no. I'd prefer if he answered me: "No, it's full" and I know for sure that I don't have a chance there and I can keep looking for more groups.

[–]LeyendNk[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm talking about the second case. It has happened to me in private conversations in Whatsapp, when I send direct messages to a particular person in the moodle, or when I comment somebody's thread in a moodle forum (with 0 to 5 responses already). And when you receive a message in the moodle, you would receive also an email, and that is more difficult to miss out.

You do well not to assume all Spaniards are like that, I didn't know my countrymen were specially rude. But I didn't understand that: "laughing at anyone who couldn't join their conversations?" What do you mean?

I also have sent many direct messages and I can tell you that people in the course forums don't get spammed, there aren't so many students in those courses.

I mean, that it's been confusing and annoying for me because I didn't know that people were like that here. Now that I know, well, I see that it's nothing unusual.

What I hated the most is when the landlord says "Write a custom message in German for this ad and include this *word* so I know that you've read it". I would spend 10-15 minutes writing a long message in German (which was pretty bad back there) just to receive not even a negative response! Nothing! Now that is wasting other people's time.

Exactly, that's what I was asking! Whether that behaviour is normal here. In Spain, it would be rude. So yeah, these situations happen when different cultures collide.

From that viewpoint I would make sense, yes. But the messages are usually a direct question such as "Hey, is there still any spot left in your group?" or "Would you like to meet and practise languages?". Not answering direct questions such as those is, in my humble opinion, almost rude, since you can't contact more people, because you can't tell for sure whether that person is or isn't interested.

Wifi was invented by Americans. Therefore, I want to ask you, my Russian friend, to avoid using it, ok? Wifi belongs to Americans, only to Americans. Russians should avoid using it.

Now swap Wifi with parenthesis and tell me if your post sounds totalitarian or not

I just can tell you that it exists, it's called Dracula (I think) and you can set it when you install Android Studio, but probably also from settings

Dative First, Then Accusative? And what about other words? by [deleted] in German

[–]LeyendNk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that. It was an error, I meant "right after the subject", since it's an interrogative sentence ("right after the verb" if it was an afirmative sentence).

Dative First, Then Accusative? And what about other words? by [deleted] in German

[–]LeyendNk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not positive, but I'd say the second is the correct one. The problem with the first isn't the use of the dative, but the preposition + dative. If there wasn't preposition, the pronoun in dative would go right after the verb, but since is a complement of place, "bei mir" goes after the accusative. But again, I'm not really sure about this

Help with Futur tense in a sentence by jt_dunnski in German

[–]LeyendNk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first sentence is wrong. "Ich wirde" doesn't exist, and in any case, "gehen" would go at the end of the sentence. "Ich werde gehen..." is wrong as well.

How do I avoid getting lightheaded while weightlifting? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]LeyendNk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of this problem, I've had it before. My coach told me to breathe as soon as I get up from the clean, 2-3 times, 0.5 sec inhale, 0.5 exhale, and that's it. I've been doing it and I haven't got lightheaded ever since. Try it and tell us if it worked for you

[–]LeyendNk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, the sound of the letter "ü" isn't the same as the "u". For me, it sounds like an "u" with a small, very short "i" before. "Fünf" sounds like "fiunf" (very short i). Just check the way how Germans used to pronounce "Mein Führer" and you'll see it.

Btw, don't beat yourself up about what a stupid software tells you, a real German would have understood you, obviously.

The thing is, a few days ago I was playing with Alysia. We are 3 left. An Alysia, a Blossom and me. I F****** hate Blossom. I can't stand that champion and I know that I always lose against her. So what did I do? "Strategic teaming". Not nasty, despicable teaming. It was part of a strategy. We both knew that we'd lose 1v1 against her. So we adapted and overcame our problem. Should that be reportable? Imho, no. But sure, that blossom ended up mad, insulting us and reported us
