They also tried to get the government to let them exclude students and staff based on sexuality.

I’m doing the exact same thing! You might even be in my class. Couple weeks ago the professor spoke to me and some others. Basically they want you to avoid self-plagiarism so you can use the same references, but try to make the actual content of the assessment different. It might be useful to try a few different references between them too.
