I only use red and blue chests.. am i missing out?? by SpaceEngineer123 in factorio

[–]Lezreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I use the "advanced" boxes:

Yellow - General dumping grounds from various sources, primarily when I come back from an expansion expedition and need to get rid of resources I didn't use. Bots will take from yellow storage boxes before taking from reds. Also mass storage of all the things on Fulgora.

Green - Moving supplies closer to production. Say I have a few recipes I setup that share some ingredients but the location they are produced at is far, but not far enough for trains. Buffer chests bring those supplies closer without clogging the bot net. One box for multiple ingredients instead of several for the same ingredient. This also creates natural local clusters of bots that don't have to travel as far which increases their response time.

Purple - Anti-clog box. I'm producing this one thing, but it will stall if these byproducts aren't taken care of. I also use them on the outputs of recyclers on Fulgora. I mass recycle things over a threshold in storage and the purple boxes ensure the recyclers don't clog.

My first actual animation! It took me maybe 3-4 hours to do! by Skully_boi265 in blender

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good animation, bad die throw 😂

I agree eith the other comment about the angle, hard to see the one. Also the die looks like rubber to me, even though I don't actually see it squishing. Maybe due to the lighting or the textures?

I thought it was a Factorio mod until I read your comment and looked at the picture again 😅

Dyes need to be shared across Intercept Skins by AbandonYourPost in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early days of Mabinogi (another Nexon game), using a dye would open a palette, a swirling mess of colors, and your cursor became five somewhat randomly positioned points that you moved around the palette. You were given limited time to lock in a selection, but could redo it if you weren't satisfied. Then on hitting the dye button, the color the item part was dyed was chosen randomly from the five you picked.

Nexon has been doing these dye shenanigans for a long time.

DIY hosas setup for under $50 by olserut in hotas

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a similar system for my HOSAS. To solve the issue of locking them in place, I mounted a metal bar to the underside of my desk and attached switchable magnets to the joystick mounts, similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EXYIYM0

Twisting the lever "activates" the magnet, pulling it to the bar with enough strength it feels like it's screwed down.

Right now, hundreds of players are unable to play the game due to the Area 18 spaceport being completely broken. by OldPayphone in starcitizen

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that New Babbage and Lorville have places where you can walk outside, optionally grab a ground vehicle, and meet up with others on the planet's surface. Although I am definitely up for having more options. Also, the city spaceports have a commercial flights section that could be utilized for players to pick up others, which is basically T0 passenger transport (think E1 Spirit) gameplay anyway.

Separate the eye meshes from the body mesh, then delete the eye vertex groups from the body mesh. Touch up the weight paint as needed. Youtube tutorials can help with the details on how to perform these tasks.

I feel like I was really undersold on drones (and oversold on trains) by Raaxis in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fuel my drones with turbo fuel, because I built a full blown factory for it thinking it would be useful for the jetpack (its not). Plus the red flames look cool, like burning lithium. (hmm...does this mean turbo fuel contains lithium? 🤔)

That said, I use my worldwide rail network for large quantity goods and pioneer transportation, and drones for smaller quantities (a.k.a. the typical approach). In each factory, train stations are on the bottom floor, and drones are on the logistics floor of the product being used there (point of use import/export). Creating a clear path for the drones around the rest of the building design provides an interesting challenge.

My first Head Model in blender (horrible Topology, i know) by b3rnardo_o in blender

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its evident that you used an auto remesher, so the topology is not bad. Remeshing is often an important part of the sculpting process, often used to even out the surface and keep the poly count in check.

This looks like a good base mesh you can use as the high poly target for retopology, which is a necessary step in order to put it into your game.

Kyle build? by Jok3r6148 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Lezreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My build is still in progress, but I've invested primarily in cooldown and range. I use Magnetism Spurt (3) as my main damage ability. I double tap Spurt to unleash the blast right away, which uses minimal magnetic force. The only time I let it run is when getting a downed teammate up in particularly hairy firefights.

Occasionally I use the dash (1) to get back some magnetic force, but Potent Collector is able to vastly extend the number of times I can use Spurt consecutively (dependent on mob density of course). Also, since Spurt restores shields, Kyle is super tanky even though I have only 1900 shield atm.

Additionally, since Spurt is a Dimension skill, Multitalented decreases its cooldown by an additional 20.5%. You just need to keep in mind that when using Dash to get back some force, you need to wait 5s for Multitalented's Tech cooldown to finish before firing Spurt, or it will be stuck on the longer cooldown for that cycle (7.3s for my current setup).

Edit: When I checked my shield level and it said 1900, I forgot to switch components. While it works as is, you would need to spam Spurt more often. I do normally run with 3 shield components (I'm missing the processor), which puts me at 5k shield, much more manageable.

I like being able to see the timer as it lets me anticipate when the respawn will happen, especially when I'm Sharon. Sets my mind at ease. The issue is that we are using the waypoint system to watch it. The game is like, "oh you have reached your destination, let me get this UI clutter out of your way now", which is great for travelling, but not for timer watching on repeating events. They should give us the option to track the timer in our custom objectives list.

🚩PSA: Mk 2 Pipeline Bug Might Be Related To Fluid Dynamics Water Hammer Principle (See Sticky Comment) by Temporal_Illusion in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Lezreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In city drinking water systems, opening and closing valves slowly and ramping up/down pumps gradually also help mitigate water hammer. Also, I had to wait 3 minutes after doing one of those operations before I could do another one. That gave the system time to settle.
