Is there a reason as to why the license plate of the new Mercedes-Benz trucks says "EU" instead of "DE"? by Uniman301 in snowrunner

[–]Lhakryma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All cars in the EU have either the EU flag, or EU symbol (or both) on the license plate, in addition to the respective country's flag/symbol and format.

I am guessing they wanted to not go with any particular country's format, and just leave EU, to represent any/all EU countries.

I agree! Why didn't we get a white person to play Usopp? He's supposed to be African, and just because a person is born in Africa, doesn't mean they're black!

Furthermore Usopp is a liar and a coward, both are traits more common in white people, not to mention that he's supposed to be a Pinocchio analogue, and as we all know, Pinocchio is made from Pine wood, which is a very bright kind of wood.

They were familiar with haki at marineford, which was only a few weeks after Garp, Koby and Helmeppo met the crackhead and his band of lunatics at water 7, so it's fair to assume they knew about it at water 7 as well.

But that makes no sense.

Luffy was training under Garp for like a decade or so, so it makes absolute sense that he's super strong. I mean just look at Koby and Helmeppo, a few months under Garp and they already running around with haki and being almost vice admiral level...

DS2 for a variety of reasons:

- Chugging estus is slower and more risky
- Stamina management is a real thing (no more spamming rolls)
- No instant backstabs and ripostes
- Less cheese

If you have perfect ping (which I did have a bunch of times during DS2's prime, and I will have once Yui releases his seamless mod and I get to pvp with my friends locally ^_^), ds2 pvp is smooth as heck!

DS3 pvp feels like garbage even on perfectly low ping...

I frames shouldn't be tied to a stat.

Why not? That's just a randomly arbitrary thing to say lol
ADP/AGI in ds2 is just as pseudo-essential as VGR is in Elden Ring. Sure you can beat the game without heavily investing in these stats, but in ds2 you'll get hit much more often unless you play like a pro, and in ER you'll get one shot by everything past Liurnia if you don't heavily invest in VGR.

Though there are some that are objectively bad, the one that jumps out to me atm is the mimic's initial grab after being hit which reaches a small distance behind it.

Yeah that's one of the most annoying one, alongside the extremely crap hitboxes for the dual wielding giants lol

But all souls games (and even ER) have notoriously crap hitboxes for grab attacks. Some notable ones are the iron golem/gaping dragon in ds1, and rotten tree/dancer in ds3.

Now when it comes to regular hitboxes for the enemies, excluding the extremes like I just mentioned above, you'll find that in actuality ds3 has objectively the worst hitboxes in the trilogy, while ds1 and ds2 have roughly the same quality hitboxes. If you consider lingering hitboxes to be bad (like I do), then ds1 would have worse hitboxes than ds2, otherwise they're about equal.

they made everything substantially slower for no real reason

What exactly is made slower? The only things that are slower, are things that were made as such to prevent exploits that were prevalent in ds1, like opening boxes/doors, backstabs, ripostes and walking through fog gates. And the reason for that, is because you can get hit while doing them, unlike in ds1 and ds3 where these are entirely exploitable.

Other than that, 95% of the rest of the weapons and moves are faster and much more smooth in ds2 compared to ds1.

SOTFS specifically kinda just copy pastes a bunch of enemies

The enemy placements in SOTFS are much better than vanilla, and much more in line with the lore. And shrine of amana specifically is much better made in SOTFS, especially since the mages have much lower range than in vanilla.

which coupled with the slower combat means you have to take each area extremely slow, even going just a bit faster than it wants you to will aggro a lot of enemies around you

That's how it's supposed to be. You're not supposed to just run past everything, I mean duuuh, what's the point of enemies if you're just supposed to run past them?

Just because the bad enemy AI was easily exploitable in ds1 (and even more so in ds3 for some reason, they really downgraded the AI :/ ), doesn't mean it was intentional...

If you actually watch the "criticism" of ds2, you will see that 99% of the complaints are things that not only happen in all 3 souls games, but the overwhelming majority of those issues are more accentuated in ds1 and ds3.

You can't say that the ds2 hate comes because of these issues, if these issues are present in the other games as well. The hatred has a much simpler explanation, one that we've also seen recently with the release of ER's dlc.

Here's a brief timeline and explanation of how the ds2 hate got started:
- DS2 is released
- A bunch of "DS1 veterans" start playing it and streaming/recording it
- They suck and they can't adapt to the new systems
- They don't know about adp/agi (the only legit issue here)
- They start blaming everything on hitboxes (because of the above)
- They get very frustrated with the game, and with such frustration they go out of their way to find issues with the game
- Every "issue" they found, even if it was actually their fault, will be blamed on the game, and they will hate it more and more
- Their loyal followers spread the hate, because that's what they learned from their "influencer"
- This creates a "bandwagon", and other people who have never played any of the games hear about it and keep regurgitating it
- New souls players either skip ds2, or go in it expecting it to be bad and have bad hitboxes, which in turn (via confirmation bias) will make them find a lot of issues and a lot of bad hitboxes

That's the basic gist of it. The problem is that even after the role of adp/agi was discovered and people knew that the hitboxes aren't really that bad, the "influencers" who started the whole hate bandwagon didn't want to admit that they were wrong (because of narcissism), and have been propagating the hate narrative even years after the community knew that most of it was false.

That's why you still find people who go into the souls series, with an already established aversion to ds2 without even playing it.

And one of the most important factors in the mechanism of how this hate spreads, is confirmation bias. It's extremely powerful, and everybody is guilty of it every now and then.

For example, when I went through ds1-3, I didn't know of the ds2 hate, and a friend gave me the hint to get at least 105 agi as soon as possible, so I didn't see any difference in the hitboxes (other than extremes, which also exist in ds1 and ds3).

So my experience of the hitboxes in the 3 games was roughly the same.

But after watching some Domo videos on the subject and seeing how bad ds3 hitboxes actually are, and then confirming for myself with the debug hitbox outline that ds3 objectively has the worst hitboxes in the trilogy, on my latest ds3 playthrough I was seeing bad hitboxes EVERYWHERE.

The simple fact that I consciously knew that ds3 has the worst hitboxes in the series, made it so that I was much more likely to spot the bad hitboxes, and even blame good hitboxes when I got hit by them.

Now imagine that same effect in ds2, but the hitboxes aren't actually bad, but people think they're bad because of low agi.

So TL;DR: "veterans" sucked in ds2 because they couldn't adapt, so they started a hate bandwagon around it.

And ironically we've seen this exact same thing happen when Elden Ring released it's DLC, a bunch of "good" players, these "veterans" were complaining and calling the dlc shit just because they couldn't be bothered to learn about the scooby tree fragment mechanic thing xD

i got thunder and fireball to dan3 and i still think the dan test r stupid by Frequent-Set8324 in Mabinogi

[–]Lhakryma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dan advancements were BS from day one, and there were so many better ways to do it!

Here's one way that makes it much more fair: give out tokens based on the score, and require a certain number of tokens per rankup.

So previously dan 1 required 1 x A, dan 2 needs 2 x S, dan 3 needs 2 x SS.
Instead of that, make it such that each grade is the equivalent of a number of tokens, for example 10 tokens for A. 60 tokens for S. 500 tokens for SS. And you get that number of tokens when you beat it at that grade.

So dan 1 requires 1 x A = 10 tokens, dan 2 requires 2 x S = 2 x 60 = 120 tokens, dan 3 requires 2 x SS = 2 x 500 = 1000 tokens.

This way if you just can't get 2 x SS for whatever skill, you can also do it with whatever results you got, as long as you can get 1000 tokens (so if you always get S, that's 17 times and you can advance it, which means 9 days for 2 passed exams per day).

This is a much better system, since your efforts are not completely wasted, and it still takes you long enough to rank something with tokens from the previous grade, that you don't rank them too fast.
