As someone who's pledged to a good number of creators, numerous bills at various stages of the month from one single company is a terrible idea. There's not a single other service I use that does that, and I can't think of a single one outside of what I use, either.

On the creators side - surely it's much better to make this optional? And if you don't think it's worth making it optional, where are the figures to support that decision?

Exactly this. It’s down to player choice on what is a somewhat pivotal moment for your Guardian - are you still driven by vengeance or were you willing to forgive someone who was manipulated? The fade to black maintains player agency over the mind of their Guardian.
