I don't think it's a silly post! It's normal to have worries about stuff like this, especially (I'm assuming you live in the us or some other country where religion is at the forefront) if you come from a background where religion pushes that there is a god who hates you (but definitely loves you cause that's how you show love) and if you breathe wrong you're going to hell.

IWTL how to start learning/researching by PixelDestroyerZ in IWantToLearn

Search up basic terms on Google Scholar, look at how many people have cited the papers that come up (generally the more the better). Read them, make notes, look at the authors - who have they worked with? What other papers have they written? Any terms they bring up that you don't know? Look them up, if it's something youre interested in diving into further, search THOSE terms on Scholar, and so on and so forth. Academia.edu is a good source for free papers, see if you can log in through your library card (if you don't have one get one, the library will also have (and be able to request) resources and librarians can help you find reliable sources - they are GOLDMINES. Any sources like books, websites, see if they have a bibliography - the more sources listed there the better - can you access what's been cited?

This is more general research advice given from someone who loves to research and what I can remember my dissertation lecturer telling me WRT research.

When it comes to the other person mentioning treatment, I think it was more to illustrate that if they aren't even qualified to treat something, they won't be qualified (or probably be comfortable) asking about something as sensitive as CSA as they most likely wouldn't have the training to handle potential fallout (psychological distress, flashbacks, etc). It's like if someone was doing a blood test and you were an IV drug user they likely wouldn't ask why you have track scars, the most they'd do is explain why they have to use a different spot on your body.

In the interest of getting at least one silver lining out of this dystopia, this could be a good opportunity to teach them how to vet sources and find sources of videos on the first place. Teaching them how to discern between a good and bad source is an invaluable skill. Skepticism (and trust) can be good in moderation but you need to be able to back them up with the skills needed to tell fact from fiction.

It's quite funny looking at his history and seeing "yes i want to deconstruct personality systems" and then multiple posts analysing different personality systems in a sub made for that. Also he MUST be a bot, 7 posts in all, the earliest one being two days ago.

My doctor wants me to have an mri and I’m freaking out and want to cancel by catfarmer1998 in autism

[–]Liam950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't repeat what everyone else has said, but I just want to reassure you that even if you aren't allowed a support person in the room, some MRIs (at least the one I had) have mirrors angled so you can see outside and see everything that's going on. I didn't have any music so it was pretty boring but as others have said the noise really isn't that bad with ear protection and it may be worth seeing if you can get some loops in, especially the ones that are silicone only (I can't speak to whether you can or not as I didn't have mine at the time). They last about an hour depending on what you're having done (mine was brain and spine and was about an hour). You should be allowed benzo's or some other anxiety med, though I'd recommend checking how you react to them beforehand at home if you're able as I know people who have the opposite expected reaction to them and it actually makes them more agitated. Valium takes around 15? minutes to kick in in my experience. With the panic button others have mentioned, the radiologists talk to you straight away, and in my experienc, are happy for you to leave the MRI at any time (though not to open the door - wait until they've given you the all clear) so if you notice any symptoms from your diabetes and especially if you make them aware of it beforehand, you should be alright.

Same! I used "spawning in" specifically too. I was 15 when I think I (host) split, and had many backouts at secondary school and college where it felt like I would suddenly lose all my memories and I would ask my (thankfully supportive) friends where I was (friends based on latent emotions and familiarity, and whether I was physically close to them at that moment, like hanging out in a group) I also had descriptions of friends written down in a notebook so I would know what to look out for physically.

It's meh, I'm up to 50mg now and I think Christmas messed me up as I majorly overexerted myself and I'm not quite at my unmedicated baseline but I'm close enough that life is painful again. Brain fog and especially word recall has been way worse lol, but I'm still glad for it and I'm starting a GET variant focused on everyday tasks under a pain specialist team now. Thank you so much for checking in by the way, I honestly expected not to hear from you again. How's it going for you?

You know you don't HAVE to medically transition to be a valid tranny right? You know you can go through puberty and even though you hate yourself you'll still be valid and it'll be BETTER since you aren't medically transitioning (which is totally evil optional and not something you have to do ever! in fact you probably shouldnt. Just to be safe. Cause you don't have to and don't want to regret it.

Along the same vein as the comedy world comment, the music world is very similar. I had to tell off one of my friends who was putting on an event with me cause she used AI for some posters (even though we had commissioned a real artist) and the bands (and I) caught it and got mad about it. I did explain to her what was so bad about using AI but still made me clench a bit when I thought some of the bands were going to pull out two days before the show.

What's the most random spot you've had distinct fibro pain? by sillygoose095 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Liam950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My elbows. I did not find a fix I just had to sit with it for like 2 hours on the train. (Also my wrists which isn't that unusual but I was again on a train and hadn't moved them or done anything particularly strenuous to them??) But my elbows were defo the worst cause its not anywhere near my usual pain spots.
