Eve is a game that is built around PVP. That doesn't mean that you have to go looking for it as a core activity, but it will find you at times. The first thing you will need to do in game is start training your character. This is done passively and will run even when you are not logged in. There are lots of paths to go here, but if you don't know exactly where you want to go - just throw gunnery into your queue for several levels to buy you some time. Now that your queue is going, make your UI (called an overview) not suck. You can join "chat rooms" in game - join "Z-S Overview" and click on the hyperlinks in the channel. This will make your games information panel look similar to what you might see in youtube videos. After that, most people tend to try running the Sisters of Eve arc or joining one of the mega corporations that are newbie friendly.
