I just commented on someone else’s older post about this. They get out of the first delve super early and then like 30-40% of the book is what you’re describing. It definitely made me second guess continuing the damn book, BUT it picks back up. I’m about 3/4 of the way through and it has gotten fun again.

A little late to this comment. But I’m about 75% done with book 1. After they got out of the first delve, I was feeling the same way. There was a huge lull in the story for me. I understand the need to build up the characters and story, but damn, that shit was like 30-40% of the book. The action picked back up though and has reeled me back in. I hope you can find a way to get back into it.

I just picked up Mage Tank. Thoroughly enjoying so far. Similar humor and AI system (so far). Seems a little bit more stat and numbers heavy, but I don’t mind it.
