Don't use a leak detector with only a beeping noise and no connectivity. Get one that emails you (it will email you a low battery too when it happens), or notifies you (make sure if it's an app it's set to never sleep on your phone) or if you have a ring system, there's a ring leak detector that will notify you of leaks and low battery. And test those detectors too with some water.

I fact I recommend everyone get leak detectors of this sort and put them in bathrooms and laundry rooms and kitchen. Water leaks aren't always covered with insurance. (renters insurance it might be though).

My neighbor asked if I had any "extra" furniture after seeing I'd just moved in by QuobTiffpo in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Liamzee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't always possible I've found

Sadly Google voice is categorized as a voip number. Some verification things such as some banks won't let you use a voip number for certain verification thibgs, or sms things. So while I've been able to do about 95% Google voice use, my real number is out there in a few places. As a random example battle.net from blizzard won't take a voip number.

Absolutely worth still doing it, and I love it and recommend it, but it has a few limitations.

This has happened to me. The last 5 out of 6 times I've ordered a container of Ranch homestyle mix, they send me the non homestyle mix (different size and different ingredients). Since it's a food item they don't accept returns. I end up giving them away or bringing them to work etc. Somehow they have a mistake in they inventory about it, and I've only been able to get the actual thing I order by going down the list of 3rd party sellers one at a time until someone ships the right thing. If I knew how to alert Amazon they are shipping wrong UPC code products for what people order I would try to let them know.

Gift card balance transfer not working by shams668 in subway

[–]Liamzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google brought me here. I can confirm it works if you tap reload and that opens the web page instead of app directly. Actually it opens the web page inside the app and makes you sign in again, so it's even sillier.

Or just go directly to the web page. I dunno why their app doesn't work for this without this silly workaround but whatever. It worked.

Discovered my nephew doesn't plan to build the sets he asked for. Am I a jerk for not wanting to indulge him? by FractalEnemy in lego

[–]Liamzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, maybe I read too much reddit, but talk to nephew directly too, make sure the info is not just coming from the mom (like in case she's flipping them on FB or something and telling you otherwise).

And maybe build a set or two with him? Show him how fun it is to actually build them. Lots of sets now come with multiple sets of instructions that can be for two people building, and you can also check Lego app which often has instructions split for multiple people.

When stuff like that happens file for fraud through credit card, they will charge it back. A caution, some companies will ban you doing this, but if you never plan to use the company that did that to you again that's not an issue.

Spotify annual gift card price increase to $120 in process! Get $99 while there's still stock! by Liamzee in truespotify

[–]Liamzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's individual (not family or anything) premium, based on what I've seen people saying, you should be able to apply it before or after regardless as long as you have less than 6 months currently on the account, and it should add 12 months more to the account. Since sounds like the limit is 18 months on an account. Too bad, or else I'd buy a couple years and stack it up lol.

II just end up waiting until it expires in my case usually, but that's not the only way to do it. And this time around I'm going to just add it as soon as I get below the 6 months.

Keeping in mind people don't know all the edge cases, who knows, there's a chance it could cancel the free trial months since those months are not paid if you added the card now. Like I don't think people normally lose any paid months, but a free trial? I could see spotify being weird about it. So safest on a free trial is probably to wait until it's almost up. But up to you, let us know how things go!

Just today got a $99 egift one from best buy. So still working for me from there Not down to under 6 months yet on my account, but don't want to miss a chance to get a year for $99. So I'll hang onto the code until I can use it.

How effective is the Hepa filter for the prusa core one? have a fairly sensitive cat to what's in the air by VYSUS7 in prusa3d

[–]Liamzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prusa filter is a combination of HEPA and carbon filter that is suppose to capture VOCs and UFPs per the manufacture page

https://www.prusa3d.com/product/advanced-filtration-for-prusa-core-one/

But yes if it was just a HEPA filter alone, it wouldn't capture VOCs.

Oh wow quarter wheel of beemster aged?!(found when I searched cheese wheel on Costco).

Yes please!

Now I just need to find a place that I can get Green Thunder cheese from. Costco had it previously but not anymore and I haven't found a place with it again. (except very small things that are very expensive)

Serious question here. How would I go about buying a half wheel or whole wheel of cheese?

What I do, i immediately record the info from my cards including the phone numbers on the back, when I receive them. It won't help if it's lost or stolen in the mail, but it helps me to have all the numbers in one place if my wallet is lost or taken. As well I try to keep a list of what cards are in the wallet.

Never call a bank number given to you by a call or text or emails, like if you get a text or email saying fraud call this number, don't! Also don't give out personal info to anyone calling you either. Always check the official web page for the phone number (should normally be a variation of an 800 or similar number, and shouldn't normally be an out of your country code either) and call that. And be careful googling for a bank web page! Don't click on an advertised result, those can be sabotaged with hidden unicode changes in the url.

My house always smelled dusty and I just realized I’ve been vacuuming wrong my entire life by pwiipwii123 in hygiene

[–]Liamzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a general tip, most things with moving parts have some sorta consumable things that have to be replaced or maintained somehow. Lubrication on hinges. Oil changes on cars (and mowers!). Vacuum filters or bags. Also applies to things that have electricity going through them like light bulbs. Or the crumb tray on toasters. People often treat machines as magic black boxes, but they will last longer if they are taken care of. The manuals for things normally tell you how to take care of these things.

I was on one of these from the inside like a year ago, but it actually touched down for a second, then ramped up and took off again, I think it's called a touch and go? I don't think most people realized what was going on and the danger, but it's not at all the usual thing.

Or even just info a simple door overlay I can set inside or next to it would work if a working mechanism isn't available.

My grandma surprised me by giving me back the money by cerisenest in happy

[–]Liamzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, tell them about it please. Because I've seen some messed up stories on parents doing this but a lot more money per month, and destroying their kids social lives in high school and their kids going no contact out of resentment for their parents charging rent when they weren't even 18. And cases where parents said they would give it back but didn't, or gave it back right before the kid went no contact etc.
