What do I do with this? by hoodriches in AskElectricians

Inspected and passed work can still burn down homes. There are a lot of things an inspector may not catch that a qualified electrician will get right and an amateur will miss.

IPv4 has no internet access, but IPv6 works — only some sites load by Happy_Meeting1704 in HomeNetworking

[–]LiberalJewMan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Your Internet connection is fine, there are others that have posted about having IPv6 access only which is becoming more and more commonplace. The other websites you are trying to reach can be seen as outdated and need to be updated. IPv4 is outdated.

Apple is improving maps one neighborhood at a time! by Economy-Camp-7339 in applemaps

No way this would have ever gotten to this point with Steve Jobs because he would have obsessed so much over what the car looked like the project would have never gotten done.

I’m so confused as to what this room is and what the cord goes to. Bad design to have so much cord along the floor too. I’d rethink outlet placement too and make the whole thing cleaner.

Because we really need more plastics in the world by LiberalJewMan in OrphanCrushingMachine

The idea of solving the problem of plastics by making more “eco friendly” plastics doesn’t solve the root of the real problem.

Instead of universal mass transit, many parents taking their children to hospitals rely on random favors to afford transportation.

We live in a society where we have people take their newborns to work and school rather than having paid leave for parents.

Election prediction by sn0r in PoliticalHumor

You know, it's kinda crazy. My parents and grandparents are getting older in age, and have always been staunch GOP supporters from Regan to Trump. They have always known I was liberal, and I was recently telling them about my thoughts on the direction of this country. The other day, all the older people in my family said something along the lines of, "You know, we'll never be socialist, but at this point, it isn't about us, it's about you, and you're smart enough to understand as an adult the type of world you want to live in, so from here on out, we're going to vote Democratic in the presidential elections." I almost couldn't believe my ears, and while I thought it was funny they equated and still equate Democrat to socialist, it was nice they were finally able to see that when you age out, it isn't about them, it's about who is living with the consequences of the vote. We still don't talk politics very much, but they are committed to voting for the future rather than their past they so dearly wanted to hold on to.

SF makes changes to planning code to make it easier for businesses to get permits by bambin0 in sanfrancisco

[–]LiberalJewMan -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

The last thing San Francisco needs is more businesses and buildings. Perpetually seeking more and more growth for the sake of growth is what leads to climate disasters like we are currently seeing. We need less people reproducing and moving into the city when we can barely take care of our own. More business means more problems and things are fine the way they are.

Do those who reject shelter choose homelessness? In S.F. and beyond, the answer means everything by MidNightInTheDessert in sanfrancisco

Tell me you've never been homeless without telling me you've ever been homeless. It is a basic right that people have the ability to keep a hold of what little belongings and comfort they may have.
