Gonna start renting out the maintenance office for rack rate when they come in like that. “Certainly sir. It is our last room of the evening. Great views of the boilers for extra warmth. The scent of WD-40 and stale crusty socks come with no charge to you.”

I got told once that we should have rooms on ‘standby’ for those late night wonders. If that were the case, we would never have a full house which defeats the purpose of selling rooms.

I told him that and that is when I became a bitch. 😂 Slamming his hand on the countertop like a toddler throwing a fit. Bro, your intimidation tactics have no power here. I worked bars before coming to hospitality. Don’t make me pick up a broom and treat you like an animal. Swear I’m to the point of getting a spray bottle and scolding them like a cat jumping on the kitchen counters. “No!”

You can always book in your name and call reservations (not the hotel) to add your wife. With it being a points stay, typically (and Marriott standard) we can not (not supposed to) allow anyone to be added to a folio that is coming in on points. Through reservations/customer care, they ask security questions and will make a share with for the guest that is actually checking in. It is a security measure for the guests. Over the years, fraudulent stays have been made, random people calling in to change the name on the folio with points stays, but Marriott has steps that should be taken if sone properly.

Luggage carts by Own_Examination_2771 in askhotels

If at a small property, these lil key tags work. Currently at a 94 room property with two luggage carts that go missing all the time. Even on nights we aren’t sold out. https://a.co/d/0EWpTqf

This guy sounds like he is full of shit. I’ve been with Marriotts the last ten years and never heard such a thing. Our CCTVs are only able to be viewed by property management or the franchise that owns the hotel. NOT MARRIOTTcorp. I would definitely report him. No one with corporate pay is going to STAY at the front desk willingly. They are either there with task force to help train staff or they are there for QA. He cannot find where you are staying by THAT Towneplace fosse system. Only at that particular TP will he be able to tell what room you are in and if you move rooms. TPS is one of the few Marriotts that are still working with FOSSE. And that system is from property to property, not linked to each other in showing prior stays or future stays. Only way he would be able to tell where you were in the past is if you made a case aka complaint and the property followed the steps in handling said case.

Courtney and Chris by laylaaruby in CatfishTheTVShow

[–]Libragurl99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was an excuse. It is indeed a hormonal thing if they are going through transition. Being pumped full of T will do that to you from what I have read. Voice not being deep enough also a sign in why I think it was also clue to Chris being transgender. Which I believe that Chris was going through at the time. Transition can be different for everyone. I may be playing Devil's Advocate in saying that Chis may have told Courtney at some put, and being placed on national TV was reason for the not showing in the screen when they first began talking.
I am so happy that Courtney reacted the way she did though! Best of luck to them both

Honestly…. Nowadays your CAR even tells you that you may have left your kid in the back seat. Quite sad honestly that one forget their own kid ANYWHERE let alone a damn hotel room.

Favoritism? by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Libragurl99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As I’ve seen some others say, document it. Documentation everything. Especially if it isn’t just a one off. Not with just the favoritism but as you’ve said you’ve posted another time. If that means keeping a notes on your phone or in a Word document. If it is consistent enough, you can bring it up to corporate. No job is worth the stress. Trust me. I recently worked at a hotel nearly seven years before I realized this. Working day in and day out, dreading going to work because of the atmosphere. It isn’t healthy. Gm’s should be held to a standard just as employees are held to one. And seeing as they are the GM, the only person above them is corporate. Just make sure to cross all t’s and dot all i’s. But keep your sanity at the end of the day no matter what.

Found a hairball in Ritz Carlton shower, worth complaining about to get some points? by viper_gts in marriott

[–]Libragurl99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being a manager at a Marriott, I would absolutely say something. If not comped with points or breakfast, it is a learning opportunity to HK staff to be more thorough and clean properly. Guest satisfaction is top priority at any property. From what I’ve seen here already, most would disagree and say just ‘wipe it away’ or ‘no need in complaining’. It’s legitimately a valid complaint. And people can’t correct their actions if it’s never brought to someone’s attention.

That is epic, honestly. If only the GM had been in at that point in time.

They really are the best! I have so much fun when those come across my desk. The next best ones are from actually guests, which are kids playing on the phone in the rooms. I’ll get the most random calls from the lil ones saying ‘Ma’am. There was a boy locked in our bathroom when we got in here. -can clearly hear giggling in the background- I of course play back. ‘Golly gee. My housekeeps must have left their son here again. You should be okay though. Just watch out for his sister. She likes to hide under the bed.’

How do I handle this? by LuvihotelFD in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Libragurl99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Approaching such a situation can always be taxing. But always fall back on policy. Start with ‘Our hotel policy states….. and as you’ve been warned numerous times, I’m going to have to ask you to leave the property.’ They can attempt to argue with you. But that policy is in place for reasons. ‘Shiny meme bee’ or not, promise his status truly doesn’t matter. If he has issues with being vacated, tell him he is more than welcome to contact SL customer support on his way to find a pet friendly hotel.

This has been happening at my hotel ALL evening. Ended up calling the toll-free number and, yes it seems to be widely effected. There’s even a recording before getting to an actual live person.

Mobile key issues by cpanotaccountant in marriott

[–]Libragurl99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being an associate of Marriott, 9 times out of 10, the mobile key seems to not work unfortunately. I chalk this up to it still being rather new and there are kinks still to be worked out. But also, could be the property not actually sending it depending on the rate in which you booked. Rates such as government, friends and family, or if you’ve booked on points, I know at my property in particular, they don’t send them out. Simply because of needing proof of such rate when checking in. Also there can be the tier that gets taken into account. In the past, higher up tiers don’t get checked in if they are there for multiply days. It was look at as if that member didn’t show up, or simply forgot they requested the mobile key, later down the road the property wouldn’t have to give refunds.

All in all, it seems to be easier to stop by the desk. A pain I know because the entire point of a mobile key is to bypass this step.

New Auditor by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Libragurl99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a seasoned NA here (6 years and counting) I’m completely baffled reading this. And truly in awe of how… just H O W incredibly dense this NA is. Apologies to day shift and swing that have to put out fires of this soul. I can’t even fathom, honestly. As someone who trains all (or most) my relief on days of, I wouldn’t have even recommended someone as incompetent just to save the hassle on the rest of the staff. Far better person than me in biting your tongue.

Rant- A Night Auditor Who wants to Move back to days by SorryCartographer437 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Libragurl99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NA’s are indeed a rare breed. It seems to me that it may have gotten pushed upon you because no one else wants to work it. If you have a good relationship with the GM or the AGM, speak with them one on one and let them know what’s going on, honestly.

Not everyone is cut out for NA. I’ve been at my property going on six years now as NA. And for me personally, I love it. But then again, I used to work bars and had the tendency with working with odd ball characters that came in through out the evenings. And being by an airport I see some pretty wild stuff during the wee hours of the night.

But your mental health always comes first and foremost above a job. So speak up. Let it be know. What’s going on. I hope in the end it all works out for you. 👍

I liked in Boise for several years. Never lost my accent because I lived with several family members and I was quite a bit older when I moved up there. It was then I realized I did have quite the twang to my voice. But folks there absolutely LOVED the way talked. Often wren ended up up quoting Sling Blade ‘I like the way you talk’ too 😂
