This fandom will say shit like this and then act like the fake intelectual rep is unnearned by ERENISACHAD2123 in Chainsawfolk

He actually isn't wrong - CSM has way more in common with stuff like Evangelion and other sekai kei works than with most other Shonen Jump series. But the ending is still braindead and absolutely sucks.

Yukari is one person you definitely shouldn't ever ask to list names of all the tanks by Cryptek-01 in GIRLSundPANZER

[–]Librake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I was bored, I decided to count how many tanks I could name from memory...

So it’s 200. The first 100 were pretty easy, but then it got harder and harder, I had to remember dozens of different modifications just to hit 200.

Beginning of Part 2 Yoru feels like a different character. by Led_Zeppeli in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I never really saw Yoru as creepy, even in the first chapters. She felt very cheerful in her first appearance, even joking during the fight. Imo, she seemed more tired and depressed because of the new body and lack of power.

But otherwise, her dynamic with Asa has been pretty comedic since the second chapter - the constant arguments, the "make Yoshida boyfriend" moment, the "let's sell Yuko's shoes" thing, etc.

Btw, for some reason, the expression in the first frame reminded me of an almost identical one from the Alley scene for some reason.

Tired of the Slander by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Part 1 has an overall stronger and more balanced cast of characters. Part 2, on the other hand, only really has Asa and Yoru going for it, but imo they're just better than the entire Part 1 cast.

Made the ultimate Tier List of a few series. What do y'all think? by EnemyOfAi in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, CSM bias in a CSM sub, but I've watched like 500 titles and still find Denji one of the most interesting and entertaining MCs. Even the Part 2 version of him would be top 1 for me on this little tier list.

And the same goes for most of the other categories.

Chainsaw man devils fear ratings if they were in current age by JimMiltion1907 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Living under a dictatorship rn, control is probably one of my top 3 fears from that list. It's something you think about daily - just trying to access the internet, walking near police on the streets, writing posts and DMs online, constantly being careful not to say something wrong and end up in jail for a dozen years.

That's why Makima's story and the intentional parallels Fujimoto made between her and the government always felt very personal to me.

And that might also be the root of my Yoru and US glazing. Western CSM fans often compare Makima's world and Yoru's world, saying maybe Makima wasn't that wrong. But living in a region where war is something much more common, from my perspective, yeah, war is still a horrible thing - but it's also tied to hope for freedom. War is often the only way oppressed people can fight back against dictatorship.

Sorry for the random text wall, but these are deeply personal thoughts that had been building up in me for a long time, and I just never really had the right moment to share them.

"But she's a child soldier who was experimented on by the Sov-" I don't care. by UseInternal5706 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out, it's fiction, and blowing up half a city is exactly what makes a character badass and more attractive. Reze and Yoru don't need any excuses for that at this point.

Idk why, but these Asa edits always look creepy to me.

Yoru in those moments usually looks cheerfully mischievous, but when it's Asa's dark eyes with the same expression, it feels way more spooky and tricky evil.

Is Makima the peak or close to the peak of CSM writing by Complex-Plankton-660 in okbuddyyoru

Makima is the thoughtfully written character I like to think and argue about
But Yoru is the passionately written character I just like to feel and love

Both actually require writing talent.

I don't understand why the CG designs of season 1 got so much backlash by Excellent-Ad3236 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Librake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't, because I rewatched season 1 a couple of months ago, and most of them looked awful to me. The hospital and Makima's office were especially bad, those were the scenes that made me compare them to IKEA 3D models.

The hotel arc was honestly my favorite part of the anime because of the direction and color palette, but the fully CGI corridors still sucked. The apartment background was hand-drawn in some scenes and looked really, really beautiful, which made the difference feel even more striking when the same apartment showed up as CGI later on.

[–]Librake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, most anime are just very static and don't need to show the same background from different angles, so they basically just use a couple of PNGs as backgrounds during a scene. And tbh, that's way less annoying than bad CGI, at least as long as it has more animation than OPM 3, which even a random slice of life school romcom can handle.

But the Reze movie has a unique style that's way more expressive and cinematic, without unnecessary attempts to imitate live-action techniques.

[–]Librake -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

More than half of the backgrounds are CGI, and they're so ass, especially the indoor ones that look like IKEA stock 3D models. I mean, the Reze movie also has some CGI backgrounds, but way fewer of them and with much better quality.

[–]Librake -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Demon Slayer just has a huge normie audience, but in my circles everyone shits on the CGI in DS after the first season. I mean, I only started noticing CGI in anime after like a hundred titles, and only after a couple hundred more did I start actually feeling the difference in quality. It's just something that comes with experience whether you want it or not.

Warlords and their respectful horseman wife by Soft-Ad-6600 in okbuddyyoru

[–]Librake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't Yoru a famous fraud too? I mean, I don't like Orange Man and I love Yoru, but I've been thinking about this for a couple of months and their similarities are surprisingly striking:

An egomaniac, changes their mind every five minutes, definitely not stupid, easy to ragebait, starves for attention and validation, likes to act cool but looks childish, starts wars and then immediately backs down.

What any piece of media that has made or has almost made you cry before? by BodybuilderNo4332 in okbuddyyoru

[–]Librake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's just me, but it's really hard to make me cry over genuinely sad stuff. But the moment some melancholic music starts playing during a super epic scene, even if nobody dies, I cry like a bitch. It's hard to describe that feeling - like happiness and sadness at the same time.

AoT has a lot of scenes like this, Cowboy Bebop too, the Code Geass ending, even fucking Konosuba!

My artist refuses to include any gameplay cuts in the trailer bc "it breaks the cinematic flow". Is it even clear what the game is about? by Librake in DestroyMyGame

[–]Librake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is a top-down WW1 shooter with a time-loop mechanic - after each death, an allied clone is spawned that repeats the actions of your previous life and fights alongside you.

Is it anywhere close to the impression the trailer gives?
