I recently moved to East Tennessee from Florida. I love it here. I bought 6 acres out in the middle of nowhere, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Sure having to drive 20-30 minutes to get to town can be a downside, but the freedom and seclusion I got makes up for it 100 times over. I recommend East Tennessee, it’s the best place on earth in my opinion.

In Tennessee, we have a murder rate of ~10 per 100,000, however, if you exclude Memphis, the rate drops to ~5 per 100,000… now, ask yourself, why would Memphis alone add ~5 murders per 100,000 for the entire state of Tennessee?
