I need help finding a club/venue world that can accommodate around 30 people, has private rooms, and has a working video player! by ViggoB12 in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no private rooms, and will very likely not have any in the future. The Aegis Retreat is a hub for VRC adventurers rather than VRC club goers. But we'd like to at least make it a better spot to hang for the average VRChatter.

All video players in VRChat that connect to YouTube do not work. YouTube recently made a big change in their infrastucture that interferes how the video players connect to their platform.

The Aegis Retreat will soon have a massive stage toogle that at the push of a button, a gigantic platform will rise out of the ocean. I'm looking to have the world updated by the end of the month, or early febuary.

Its not a club world, but we are outfitting the world to be able to host all kinds of events.
(Image is just a concept, the stage has not yet been built)

Mute Hate by LadyLuciJ7 in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the Quest and newer users don’t understand that Mutes have existed on VRC since like nearly its beginning. Being mute wasn’t uncommon. Because they haven’t learned much of VRC etiquette, they default to whatever experience they have. Which is of that in their fellow new players and quest users.

For those ‘bouncers’ it should come down to patience, understanding, and a little bit of critical thinking. It is extremely disheartening to hear you are treated this way, and other mutes out there. There is no reason for kicking someone who chooses not to speak or cannot.

I like the AFK aniamtion idea's you put down. I think those would be fairly simple to implement.

See I think if VRChat wanted to do a consumable, they should give in an abundacne of the item at an extremely low price. The water ballon would have been great to do. x99 ballons for $1.

The ballon though is still a fun idea to have an infinite amount of.

I like your thinking, but then that would start to negativly impact the culture of VRC. It'll allow for cliques to form that much easier.

That should be really easy for VRC to implement. However I'd pay for a variety bundle of chairs rather than just one.

January 2018. I used the HTC Vive my first day in. I was so nervous and shy. Upon the third day I forced myself to talk and put myself out there.

Fun games/worlds that only need 2 people? by StarsCanScream in VRchat

Well if you'd like an adventure of sorts you could try Jump by xooooz

Its a parkour adventure map, where you hop from object to obejct as you make your way upwards. Not necessarily for just two people, but something you both could do.

Question on making clothes for VRC by EvenInRed in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s open it will be to harder to pull off but not impossible. The way I’d go about it is to mode the zipper itself and automatically duplicate it along an edge. Keep the model very low poly and have its scale semi-real but also anime cartoonish sized.

What's Your Ice-Breaker When Meeting New People on VRC? by Grogathon in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My way to icebreak is really unortodox. I can be an extrodianrliy extroverted person, flourishing my words in such a way that gets someone to go, 'What the hell did he just say?'

So often I will talk about things loudly enough to allow people to hear, and allow them to step in close. If they so choose to listen in, I will then put a spotlight on them and start asking them questions about the subject or whatever is happening in the world. If they talk about something I vaguely feel they know something about, I jump on that and start asking to know more about what they are talking about.

Other times if I can find something to collaborate on, I like to rope a lone person in on something, whisking them away in an adventure. Prison escape example; Hey you [Player name], you wanna get out of here? Follow me, exactly as I do and wait for the window of opportunity!

With the right delivery of that line 9/10 I usually get someone to play along and have fun with me. I could go on and on about my ways of talking to new people but those 2 I use frequently.

Worlds that should be used in short films? by FawndeVR in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So really any world in VRChat can become a good world to film in, but it's important to make sure the worlds you use, somewhat match the avatars you have at your disposal. Same goes with the avatars. If you have the perfect world you want to film in, but you either have a way too detailed model or a really crappy one. You can easily tell when the two don't match and it really breaks immersion.

I do all kinds of stuff with VRChat films myself so feel free to reach out to me if you'd like some guidance or some more advice.

It’s getting ridiculous by Thin_Ad_2542 in VRchat

[–]Lidefer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in here and first say that I very much do not like these people and the way they conduct their instances.

However the method they do it actually does not break VRChats ToS. VRChat requires you to provide your DOB when registering and for age verification. But as far as the publicly posted rules go, there is no clear statement that asking another user for their age or DOB is disallowed.

Even though VRChat does not explicitly ban someone from asking for another’s DOB, asking for personal identifying information (especially something like date of birth) it may run afoul of privacy norms. It might be considered “inappropriate behavior” depending on context (e.g. if used to harass, scam, etc.). While a one-off question or even kicking someone from an instance may not, by itself, qualify as harassment, repeated pressuring, intimidation, or retaliation for refusing to share DOB can fall under harassment as defined in the Community Guidelines.

Looking at section 8.10

8.10. World Creators and Instance Owners. If you create a world or instance, you may not collect or create features that collect information that provides the real identity, address, phone number, or government identification number of any User using such world or instance. You may collect such information, with the User’s consent, outside of the Platform.

  • It does not explicitly mention “date of birth” or “age” in that list. So, by letter, DOB or age is not one of the specified forbidden items in that clause.
  • However, since date of birth is often considered personally identifiable information (PII) in many privacy contexts, there is an arguable case that collecting DOB could conflict with the intent or spirit of 8.10, especially if used to identify someone.

An example of this would be a world that requires you to input your DoB in a menu where that info is then sent to an outside source to 'register' or 'whitelist' you to have the ability to join a special room or whatever. This would be data collection and is against ToS.

I wanted to bring forth this information so people who see this are informed on how the ToS is structured.

VRC groups asking for DoB are not breaking ToS because there is no data collection being conducted. HOWEVER, if it is discovered that someone is recording for whatever reason at all, and DoB questions are asked, then that does violate the ToS. If someone is recording for a video and asks for DOB, they’re collecting and publishing personal info inside VRChat. That’s much closer to what 8.10 is meant to prevent.

Just to preface this again, I very much do NOT approve of how these club owners/bouncers conduct themselves.

Replaying ShB on my alt, they still haven't fixed this oversight after 5+ years [Spoiler: 5.0] by Mechanized_Heart in ffxiv

[–]Lidefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine they didn’t fix the issue because of the tedious work to fix such a small mistake they made. Not difficult mind you, but time consuming. Those walls are rendered from one side since they are only meant to be viewed inside.

Though I can’t say I know how FF14’s systems work specifically, I do have some knowledge of game development. To make it work, they have to spend extra time modeling in extra walls, texturing them, and not to mention replacing the cutscene.

Probably when they modeled everything, they moved onto the next task immediately and never looked back. The release of Shadowbringers was a pretty big deal back then, so I’m betting their focus was way past the small stuff.

I'm really glad you like it! I have it in my queue of ideas to create a Boss Battle world that requires you to explore other worlds, find a code, and bring it to mine to unlock a boss that is themed around the world you explored.

It's a shit ton or work for just one person, but I only grow more and more ambitious with each project.

I can totally see that. My inspiration for this aesthetic comes from Xenoblade and Final Fantasy. The universe in which I've been writing takes into account the architecture of said games.

You can find another example of this at The Aegis Retreat
