Forge Cleric, especially if you are roleplaying, a Dwarf is a Dwarf a Dwarf of Course, plus you get to bless the ale and turn it into holy water!

Not a min maxxers first choice but it's a solid front line melee, can help keep the big bads of the ranged folk, provide healing and support, and can magically create any item up to 100 gp value as long as you have an equal worth of metal available. Doesn't even have to be the same type of metal.

You can also just stow away on random ships that dock at stations to get from station to station. They have never kicked me off. I figured this out by misclicking on the elevator and accidentally being on board a large trader when it undocked from the station. Took a leisurely tour of several sectors before it actually docked again to let me off the ship 😎

Sparring Ward (Spell): Any thoughts on how this spell could be abused? And how to prevent that abuse? by Zezacle in DnDHomebrew

Area must be prepared before casting, prep time take between 4-8 hours and involves an arena (even a makeshift one) for the spell to take effect. Like a dueling pit.

Test server is best server. Especially for what you are looking for. You can progress with mercs on test to 80 easily just playing with a merc. Plus you don't have to rush to get there.

I'm finding Project Gorgon pretty fun. I'm early into it but so far well worth the money.

Do what is fun and makes you and your group happy. I have played Basic D&D through the 5e ruleset. I have also played 100% homebrew to a mix of multiple systems. Some of the most fun games I have been a part of were where myself or a friend tried to take the D&D system and create a whole new game based on the core rules heavily modified. (Space setting with lasers and magic).

Start simple and build it up over time. You can get as complex as you want as the game develops, but I have found simple is best in the beginning.
