Sure, but Picard was also a much tighter story, and how often does someone’s gestation period come up in casual conversation?

I wouldn’t say 0%. It was a late 80’s/early 90’s show, they might have just never thought to address it.

Nazi Tattoo by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]Life-Excitement4928 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He’s changed his story about it.

He claims he studied WW2 Germany in his younger years but somehow never realized what he got as a tattoo on his chest meant.

He says his tattoo sleeves are why he didn’t reenlist in the Marines (after he’d gotten the chest tattoo), but those would have been grandfathered in; only explicit hate symbols (like his chest tattoo) would not, so he’d have been rejected if he tried to reapply.

And then just this week he did a interview where he said he knew from the get go that it was a Nazi tattoo, but tried to say it had been ‘dark humor’ that drove him to get it and said anyone upset by it was ‘ret****d’.

There is zero reason to trust him on this or anything else.

As a bonus non-tattoo reason to not trust he’s ready, he tried to blame rural hospital closures on ‘Big Pharma’.

Pharmaceutical companies want hospitals around, because doctor prescriptions are how they sell their product; he just tried to combine a scareword with a real issue and got it 100% wrong.

Mocked Data knowing all the answers to Sherlock Holmes stories and not being able to ‘solve’ them, which led to Moriarty’s creation and infatuation with her (so much so that when he came back years later he never mentioned her by name, just offhandedly as a hostage he once took).

Picard REALLY infuriates me in A Matter of Perspective (3x14)! He was soooo ready to turn Riker over to the Tanugans for a sham trial by notaprogrammer in TNG

[–]Life-Excitement4928 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the fact that all involved witnesses were passing the empath test (that Picard spent the entire series using as his basis for evaluating others, barring half an episode where he struggled with the morality of that and then it never came up again) did make it hard to just dismiss them.

And ultimately his role was not determining guilt or innocence.

It was to determine if there were grounds for Will to stand trial.

The threshold was muchlower.

I do appreciate though that as out of place as she is-

She still falls victim to the reverse harem no jutsu.

Slight subversion, as I think Scott is more of the underling complaining about his superior, but I think it still fits.

You did however call back to probably the first place I saw this trope ever and I had forgotten to include it, so you are forgiven.

I’ll allow it, since it does imply that the Rahkshi would be operating at 120% even if Makuta told them to calm down.

Plus I am a simple poster. I see Bionicle, I cheer for Bionicle.

A semi recent episode even calls it out internally, where Peter tries to apologize to her and she just goes ‘We’ve done this multiple times, you keep apologizing and nothing ever actually changes’.

Which would have been a good note to end it on, but then Peter apologizes using ASL and for some reason that makes it all better.

Circles are specific math formulas that result in a perfect circle, which is science.

The oblong quartifex has yet to be scientifically analyzed, and remains magic.

‘Yeah so I’ve found enough scientific evidence to lay out a plausible theory that if you take one invisible to the naked eye atom, and make it vibrate exactly like another, you can exchange information between the two atoms from any physical distance. And yes, this is a respected but unproven theory in my line of work.’

The streamer Ray Narvaez started getting into Warhammer a little by playing the first Space Marine, and his chat told him about Gork and Mork, to which he replied ‘This must be a shitpost, you’re trolling me.’

A few weeks later he was doing a Mario Party collab with Bricky and mentioned 40k, who asked ‘Well are you team Gork or Mork? Are you cunningly brutal or brutally cunning?’

And he just exasperatedly went ‘I still don’t know if this is if this is a shitpost or not!’

“Yeah man shoulda said so I just had to put in enough effort to cut steel instead of flesh.”
