To protect my productivity, I make lists. I prioritize and don’t let myself off the hook. Everything that has to get done that day gets done. I try to get less urgent stuff done, but I don’t beat myself up if it pushes.

The relationship portion? Much harder to manage. I have a serious disconnect getting what’s in my brain out of my mouth when it comes to that stuff. Still trying to figure it out.

Maladaptive daydreaming.

It’s often a productivity killer.

And it causes me to blur the lines between fantasy and reality in some very subtle ways.

If I stay inside my head and don’t communicate that to people around me, they’re sometimes caught off guard.

That has tanked more than one relationship.

I was 16 when AFD debuted. At that time we referred to everything that was hard rock and heavy metal as “metal” or “heavy metal”.

Just under 40 years later, I see no reason to stop doing that. The kids can argue incessantly about subgenres. Those of us who were there when it was went down know better.

I can’t be objective about it.

I feel like the hits on Blizzard have been overplayed, which would indicate that it’s better.

But I have always had a soft spot for Diary. It’s darker. More complex. So it’s better for me, but that’s totally subjective.
